Thank you for the inside look at your production. I have always wanted to visit Hong Kong. I have done CAD work and consulting for Dragon Models and hope to see some of the kits I have worked on being manufactured someday.
While I would prefer to see your products made in the USA, I understand the need to go overseas sometimes. My own experience is that it's not a problem to find an injection molding company to run your parts. It's the prohibitively high cost to produce the tooling here that will drive up the price of the parts. There are companies all over the US hungry for the work that can provide competitive production parts. However they lack the ability to produce low cost tooling.
I do think manufactures should consider producing some of their products in the countries where they sell them. After all if all the jobs go overseas, who will have money to afford to buy the products?

I will take a Geep 7 in BN, Burlington, NP, and GN thanx! Might even do SF (patch), BNSF and Frisco too.

Thanks for the dealer locator. I just discovered a dealer near me that I need to visit. However the given address is wrong. Here is the correct address: Fred's Train Shop 7327 West 80th Street Overland Park, KS 6620 You can confirm with the website link.

So is it safe to assume the Amtrak West units strayed on the Empire Builder and Southwest Chief routes?

I think the MTL couplers are nice if you want unattended uncoupling. Having a layout with lots of switching activities would be one reason to have them. But for what I am doing, staying coupled all the time takes preference. I have a couple MTL SD40-2's that pulls a coal train (8 AZL cars) in a small over and under layout and the only thing coming uncoupled are the engines. My layout is in a coffee table so it's more for show than anything and I will probably run the trains continuously. I find that the engines break away when they momentarily stall and introduce slack. They do this over the switches and of course any dirty track.
In contrast my AZL GP38's can pull the same train all day without any breaks. But 4 axle power doesn't look right pulling coal. So I would just like to have the option of using the AZL coupler.

Well, I will certainly buy a few BN units. A GN Hustle Muscle would be cool too.

That AZL made an SD-45 and SD-40? If so, when will these be rerun?

I'd be glad to test some of those AZL couplers! I have a pair of GP38's that can run all over my grades (up to 3%) pulling most anything and not uncouple. Yet other brands break away at the slightest change in grade.

Are these available separately and would they fit an MTL SD40-2?

Burlington Northern's White Face scheme is what I was referring to. In my other hobby; Model Ships (a fraction of the hobby market compared to RR modeling) short run decals are the norm. I guess I just figured someone would already be there with something off the shelf.

Where are you guys finding decals for Z-scale? I want to paint up some GP-38's in BN white face and don't see decals anywhere.

Hopefully the mold is designed with inserts that can be changed out for those differences.
I am new to Z-scale but am loving my BN GP-38's. I would love to see some GP-50's to work with them.
