Hi all. When did the AZL 17600 gallon tank cars start running on the prototype railroads, also the closed tri-level autoracks ?

Very nice, I would go with yellow handrails, and maybe even yellow steps to reduce some of the silver

The kato soundbox speaker is not very good, I use a good quality speaker mounted centrally on a 5'x2' layout. And run a mini jack lead from the line out. On the new layout which is 9' x 2' I am using a Bose set up with a mid top at each end and a bass bin in the middle

You can buy or use a 12v DC pack to plug straight into the back or purchase a kato adaptor that fixes to the side of the unit then run the wires to your own 12v DC transformer. I run up to 3 locos on the head end with the Rokuhan cntl and the soundbox with no problems at all its done about 12 shows over the last 16 months and each show runs about 6 or 7 hours

I have been using the Soundbox on my exhibition layout Lincoln, I run the small Rokuhan control into it. And as long as the track and loco wheels are clean it runs superbly . I use 2 sound cards, one first gen emd for my gp7/9 and a second gen emd for my gp38s. I also run a separate speaker from the line out under the board .If you are running one train at a time its fab. I did contact kato to ask if it was compatible but they didn't have a Scooby doo (clue). So I bit the bullet and purchased one. Not looked back and it will be used on the new z as well.

wipe on track magic, then use a mini Hoover to take any dust away. I do this every time I run th layout at shows and never have to use the hand of God

My layouts tend to be projects for shows so will only buy stock that is required for the layout at the time. I've even been known to sell all stock when the layout goes. Mind you saying this,I am gradually collecting 009 stock and no layout.
