I am thinking of making a imperfect track and still run a train in it. I would love to do a scene where a train is limited to 10 mph due to the track condition. I think it would look great to see the engines and cars wobbling all over the track.

John, I'm sorry to be the one to inform you, but they cancelled the SD70 in CSX. Too much demand for NS!Because NS makes a perfect stripper. Nobody in their right mind would strip a CSX. hehehe

Rob, stop talking about track and start releasing the CSX SD70. I know you have it in your office, and you are delaying the release to drive me crazy. John

Well, if I was going to all that trouble, I might as well go with Fastrack curve jigs. The rails come in 36" lengths, lasersticks and a rail bender. By the way, I think all z scalers are little nuts to love something so small.

With Marklin's flex track, you have to cut it to bend it. Just like the expansion track. If you want to stretch it, cut it. Marklin flex its only good for straights, because it doesn't like to stay bend.

I went with #6 for a smoother switching. Ed Turner went with #8 for high speed turnouts, but its for what you going to use it for. My next jig will be 4.5 for a smaller module.

The art of automatic uncoupling its making sure all the equipment is working right. I wish I could say the cars and locos you buy are working perfectly when you get it, but it needs adjustment. The coupler its probably one of the parts that are not working correctly. Most of the time, I have to adjust the pin height or move the pin a little to the left or right. If you are going do switching, certified each car or loco that you plan to switch. I wouldn't do it for the whole fleet. Its time consuming and expensive. I like to use cars that have newer couplers for switching or change the couplers on older cars. For some reason, newer couplers swing better. Also lubricate the coupler box with graphite when its not working like it used to. You may also want to take the coupler apart and clean they been used for a while.
I maybe in the minority, but I love the non-autolatch couplers. I used to switch out the AZL guts with MTL guts. The autolatch couplers are harder to do the conversion.

There's another option. Go all fastrack. They make jigs for mainline, branchline, and curves. Theyt sell 36" rails.

They are not hard to build, but there's a learning curve. Build couple switches without using your laser sticks. Also, pay attention where you make cuts your gaps.

Mark, you cant get them anymore. I don't think he is in business. A good substitute is Fastrack switches, but you have to build them yourself.

Dom, I finish my first one today, and it wasn't all that hard. It just takes a lot of filing and knowing where to cut the gaps. Go to Utube to see how he makes a Nn3 switch, because its closer to z scale. Also take it easy on the solder. I used too much on my first one and had to filed it away.

The pins that hold the top to the rest of the shell should be flushed. If it sticks out, it will push the shell upwards.

Not so fast my friend. Its not that simple to make a SD60. You will have to cut out the big box behind the engineer side?, add a laundry chute, and the handrails around it. You maybe able to get the sideframe from the MTL SD40, then sand off the details from the SD70 truck. Finally glue both together.

I know I am not going to get it, but how about CSX gray and blue business cars.
