I have said I like Rob A and Rob K, BUT... What Rob K said on this post is just not what I want to hear from a manufacturer. I also know from their experience, people return stuff that they damage themselves and want AZL to warranty repair. I know that lot modelers want the engine to run right out of the box, but with z scale its just a little harder. I am more then willing to tinker the engine to make it right, but something just cant be overlook.

I decided not to get upset with things that goes wrong with the stuff I buy, but I will never buy stuff that are seriously wrong. I will never buy anything from Searail and I will never buy a GP38 again.

Roland, watch out for the SD40 snowplow. Its the main reason they get caught up in turnouts. To test it, run it without the snowplow. File away any plastic that's below the connecting pin.

Is not a question of what you have. The question is what you don't have.

John, check your trucks for lint or hair. That is probably the worse offender for the tab, tab engine start, and if the truck looks dry, add a touch of Label #8 oil.

The new motors are rated for 12V, so the Warranty should covert it. The old 8V motors should be long out of warranty already.

Mark, my suggestion is not to buy a voltage reducer, but buy a short protection. A simple auto brake lamp works well and its cheap.

Mark, I talk to Ed Turner, and he didn't do anything out of ordinary either. We just matched the color to the right number on the board.

The 123zo is a drop in decoder. Don't waste it on wiring it. Buy a Digitrax DZ125 that is wired already and doesn't have a led on it already. You bought the wrong decoder for the conversion. With a wired decoder all you have to do is solder the six wires and you are done. with the drop in decoder, you will have to figure out the solder points and add wires, plus you have to insulate the decoder to protect it from shorting.

Having said that, I think I used a DZ125, The RDC is big enough to house the Digitrax decoder, and the bigger decoder is cheaper.

Larry, most of us use TCS Z2 on most hardwire installation.
