I used to limit the voltage when I started, but I haven't done it since. It really doesn't matter if you run it at realistic speeds. I been running dcc for five years? and I haven't not toasted a motor due to too much voltage. I use app call Modelspeed to track the speed of my locos. Its also to useful to mu the engines.

That depends on the decoder. With TCS, I don't touch them. With Digitrax, I adjust the decoder until step one moves the loco.

Mark, I thought about starting a business of buying whole locos, take it apart, and sell it as parts. I would make a killing for selling @ 50% off the manufactures list price.

James, I just assume flash on all the Z couplers regardless of the manufacturer. It really doesn't take much flash to cause problems. I end up using a 40x microscope on all new units I purchase. But my set seemed to run clean prior to inspection. Mark Everybody send their bad couplers to Mark, so he can check it with his microscope. I am willing to spend money to get my train to run better, but buying a microscope it's not one of them. My most recent purchase that's not train related it's a ultrasonic cleaner. It's great for cleanning the grease off the AZL trucks and wax off Shapeway models.

Rob, you are getting all my money this days and its not by choice. MTL is not making anything this days, but I am happy with the new products coming out.

Bob, I was going to Google Moives, it sounds so French, until I figure out it was a typo.

Forgot: not touching GE power is more than a bummer, it's a mistake I just hope they are doing the ES44AC instead.

Right now, the best turnouts you can get the ones handmade from Fastrack jigs. Its not for the modelers that want ready to run. It takes time, patience, and money, but you will get the smoothest turnout in z scale. After using it, I will never go back to using MTL, Rokutan, or Marklin.
