No picture. I really didn't think it was significant at the time. It looked like a test shot. I generally don't get excited unless a loco is fully painted and/or running around on an oval.

Has anybody placed an order for the Searails Alco Fa-1? It seems the first locos (CP RAIL, Louisville & Nashville, Western Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York Central) will hit the shelves next October. Aside from Zscalemonster, do you know who else is distributing Searails products?

Price will be not cheap, I assume brass shell and 2 Powermax, so north of $500. If 2 Popwermax I doubt the trucks will be in the correct spot due to the height of the Powermax. But maybe only one Powermax in the back. Ah well, all speculation. We will wait and see and hopefully the product will be made in the first place and is good. It seems that the FA-1 by Searails is at long last going to be released! Scheduled date is end of November (well, November 31st, as a matter of fact. I hope this is a typo and not the "day-of-never" ). Oddly enough, it will be powered by MTL instead of Powermax. Perhaps this helped cut the final price. I am very curious to see the final product

If you fancy a challenge you can do an Alco FA using the GHW model on Shapeways designed to fit the MTL F7 mech It was printed in what used to be called SWF plastic which has a grainy finish so needed a couple of coats of primer sanded down between each one to smooth it out. In fact it needed a fair bit of rubbing down but the end result was worth it The truck sides were resin copies of the ones under the Hallmark turbine glued onto the side of the F7 trucks that had been rubbed down flush. because I lost a lot of the grill detail on the side I scanned the FA drawing and printed some clear decal ones that look O.K I've also started one of his EMD FTs in the same material. Again this had a lot of grain and is seen here in the first coat of reveal primer. Since I took this shot I've added the dynamic brakes on the roof and will finish it in Northern Pacific livery when I get round to it Kev ...or leave the trucks alone for a Rock Island FA-1m: www.rr-fallenflags.org/ri/ri0135o28.jpgRoof shot showing exhaust stacks from new EMD 16-567 prime mover:

But the best solution would be a readymade and painted model by AZL (or MTL) ... including a NH version !

Sorry, for myself I was looking for a FA in NH-version ... And, please contact Bill G. or Elon M., maybe they have money enough for such expensive things ...
