A heads up folks. Searails is planning a limited edition FA-1 locomotive: searails.com/diesels/zalcofa1.htmlA bit shorter than a PA-1, but the same styling and a prime mover for NH and a number of east coast roads. Who knows. If we ask nicely, he might be willing to do a PA-1 in the future. Mark

The FA-1 was quite popular too! I am very curious to see this model. Will it be undecorated? Anyway almost as beautiful as the PA-1 :-D

There are a lot of questions that need to be answered: price, paint, power. Hopefully he'll have more details by September. I'm afraid the FAs are way down on my list of wants, but I thought it worth bringing up.

Price will be not cheap, I assume brass shell and 2 Powermax, so north of $500. If 2 Popwermax I doubt the trucks will be in the correct spot due to the height of the Powermax. But maybe only one Powermax in the back. Ah well, all speculation. We will wait and see and hopefully the product will be made in the first place and is good.

New Haven ? But under 500$ (don't forget the customs ! ). And guaranteed compatible with Rokuhan turnouts (remember the issues with the MTL GP9).

My MTL GP9's run through Rokuhan turnouts without any problems. maybe you need to add DCC decoders to yours just kidding If there is a issue its with the Rokuhan turnouts not MTL's GP9's as MTL had already stopped manufacturing and pretty much sold out their supply of GP9's several years before Rokuhan released their first turnouts. My GP9 is in fact a modified GP35 with a GP9 shell bought at Zscalemonster (still available ; I wanted absolutely a NH locomotive). Maybe that Murphy provided a "defective" turnout to me ... or that some turnouts have a smaller "clearance" (6.2mm) between the rail and the moving part.

About the expected FA1, does one know which chassis will be used for ? An existing chassis (let’s hope AZL’s F-Unit), or a new one ?

I wish I had spent more time with Searails when I was at the PCR convention to be able to say more about the FA1. Since he has announced 100 units I think it unlikely that he would be an existing chassis. Perhaps if enough people email him with interests, he'll had more details to his FA1 page.

I've got a couple of the Hallmarks and was originally going to fret out the windows etc but ended up motorising them, repainting and shoving them straight into traffic. They are slightly oversize but look fine with the repainted Marklin streamliners. They are The most beautiful diesel loco ever produced in my opinion. They are in the classic Nickel Plate Road 'Bluebird' livery and I would dearly like to see an injection PA come out one day to replace them Kev

Checked the Searsils page today, no word about the FA anymore, at least I couldn’t find anything?
