in browsing through the available AZL locos, I'm seeing a wide spread of pricing. I'm wondering why are all of the other AZL locos so much higher priced than the AZL GP-38's, is there some big unmentioned difference in the quality of their drive or operating capabilities? GP-38s are the entry level locos of AZL. I myself have none, but I get they are lower priced to "tempt" new customers and introduce them to the AZL fantastic collection of products. The motor should be the same of like, more expensive locos. The price difference is due to the lesser details of the chassis

Something for everybody to be aware of: PRICE This is not inexpensive tooling, and our unit cost is quite high. I expect this 5 unit car to cost as much as a locomotive. I do hope this does not dampen your enthusiasm, but I want everyone to be aware. I hope we are not talking of the Big Boy π I have been waiting years for this type of cars. Whatever the price, I am sure it will be worth it!

We have 3 road numbers, but not sure if all will be released at the same time. They probably will since only 210 BNSF locomotives are part of the first run. Only 210 units? You're killing me Hans. I guess I'd better jump on it NOW! Thanks for the "heads up," Hans. Bill Mock If I may ask, how many BNSF SD70 Ace were produced by AZL? I am asking just to get an idea. I tried to buy one of those, but they sold out faster than I could save money

The Ajin sticker is intact still sealing them in the original plastic wrap. I think its safe to say they are "Mint Condition New in the box" Fantastic!! Easily the crown jewel in any Z scale collection With a bunch of the just released heavyweight coaches ... *sigh*...

Given that the locomotive herself is very hard to find, it wouldn't be a bad idea at all if Maerklin re-issued the loco too :-P

I would say "prototype". In time, our beloved trains will age like the real stuff anyway:-) Having said this, most weathered/graffitied MTL locos and cars are really eye-catching. I guess two or three purchases there would be a sound idea. But that would be an exception in my ideal collection, not the rule :-)

I did ask, I received no response. I would love to be proven wrong of course. If MTL did correct their hood width problem, I'd buy a fleet of them. However I was actually hoping AZL would produce one in plastic. That seems less likely now. Production of our own SD40-2 is actually on our project list. MTL's resumption of production of their own SD40-2 does not really impact our thinking much due to the differences in hood width between what MTL has made, and what we would make. But, but, but!!! We do have other locomotives that we would like to produce BEFORE the SD40-2. Alco PA/PB!!!!

Which one of the currently available AZL locomotives would be a fine motive power for these Burlington pullman cars? Maybe DRGW or Santa Fe F3A-B?

The AZL brass SD40-2s are a rare bread. I have not seen one pass through our Resale shop in the last six year. For those lucky enough to own AZL's early brass diesels, the prices for these are going like crazy on the 2nd hand market. We typically sell SD45 for $875 plus. The C44s are known to go much higher. Rob To say nothing of Alco PA1&PB1! They pop-up once in a while, at absurdly high prices

To begin with, no Christmas is Christmas without an electric train below the Christmas tree! Then there is one's own birthday, and that is a second loco/wagon set. Then, perhaps one or two occasions each year to celebrate something else. Uhm... I daresay in ten years you can get quite a significant amount of rail material ah ah ah
