Sadly Reynard of Micron-Art passed away a number of years ago. We occasionally get his detail kits on Ztrack Resale. BLMA had offered loco desiel parts, but it doesn't look like Atlas continued to carry them. And he gave up with Micronart even before his passing away. He was a so kind guy I was lucky enough to meet when he came in France 20 years or so ago.. I guess there's unfortunately no chance anyone recovers Micronart's assets and molds. Dom

. oops new 4 axle truck road engines, verboten here. Not at all! Is there something you would like to see us make? In the past I already pleaded for U-Boats (4-axle and 6-axle) and I'm going on. Who knows, maybe that one of these days that will end to work.. Dom

Am I the only one who is running all of my locomotives with both front plows/pilots and rear pilots installed with no issues? I guess even AZL themselves were having issues doing this testing the new SD40-2 line? I must admit that always running my 6-axle locos MUed back to back, I didn't set their aft pilots in place yet. All my 6-axle diesels are fit with their front plow AND a MTL #905 Magnematic coupler. I do agree that's unfit for tight curves but my layout's broad curves (14" or more) accomodate them with no flaw.

If I were Atlas, my formula would be... ...... -If I dipped my toe in the loco waters, it would be 4-axle GE's...a spot where AZL has expressed no interest. Then possibly some earlier 6-axle GE's. (Loud applause) Dom

OK, my personal inbox is flooded with; "please do the Sharknoses, please" So maybe I do not hate the Baldwins as much as I did Still hate (or perhaps better, an extreme unexplained dislike) Trainmasters! So was it a joke or not? Lots of us have been waiting for a shark nose for a very long time. The earlier AZL post seemed to imply you were releasing it later this year, and that it wasn’t a joke… you might have some upset customers. What has first driven me to the april 1st fish was the mention "undec", as I know undec locos unfortunately are no more planned at AZL's. Dom

Hans, Rob, I heard a rumor about a possible merger between UP and BNSF which would form the to be announced, publicly traded UPSF railroad. Are you planning for such unit(s) - yellow and orange with a flag in a the form of swoosh? Seems like an immediate classic…. Thanks -Tiest 😉😉 Dom

Surprise announcement! AZL is pleased to inform our valued clients that we will be producing the Baldwin Sharknose diesel locomotive. With its distinctive look, it is our first Baldwin diesel. This major locomotive manufacture has been missing from our product line, and this fills in an important gap. Why announce today? Well, the real April Fool joke is that Hans has been known for disliking the Sharknose for years, but THAT was the long planned April Fool! He actually loves the sleek design and has wanted to make it for years. AZL will make the Sharknose in all major road names, including an undecorated version. Look for the release before the end of year. Happy spring! 😉😉 Dom

Do the SD70Aces have working ditch lights? (using light tubes I presume) What DCC decoder(s) will fit in them? Thanks, Ed Yes they have. About the decoder I can't tell you, I'm still a DC guy for the time beeing. Dom

Thank you Ed for your input. So I understand these "LEZ" couplers are not designed for magnetic uncoupling operations, am I right ?

Steve suggested the possibility of Lee's coupler. Ednadolski also demonstrated its reliability through examples. For anyone interested in the LEZ, it's probably a good idea to get in touch with Lee wrt availability. I'm not sure what the current situation is, but previously some of us from the TRW forum were able to buy them in bulk from Lee, assembled but without any truck. The couplers are plenty strong for Z-scale. I recall one test, where I was able to lift a static weight of nearly 16 ounces. Here is a quick link to a vid of my old N-scale layout, where every car in the train is equipped with LEZs: (FWIW, Tehachapi is something I have in mind for a Z scale layout -- tho currently I don't have nearly as many Z scale cars or locos).

Sorry Ed, I must have missed something. Please could you give us an hint about what a LEZ is ? I don't find any data about this on the web.. Dom

I switch the guts of the AZL coupler with MTL’s. Trim the nipples off the MTL coupler. Then drill a hole in the coupler cover, and secure it with a MTL screw. It doesn’t as wide as a full MTL coupler, but it will do automatic uncoupling. Could you please make us a tutorial with pictures ? Sounds very interresting. Dom

If you guys want some Z scale European bullet train, you should bow over this : azar-models.com/fr/28-20242025Myself I would prefer AZL to consider producing GE U-Boats rather than bullet trains, even french.🙂🤔 Dom

DC PWM is perfect for me. In my opinion PWM is mandatory if one elects to remain DC equipped. Dom
