That's a beautiful layout!!!!! I don't think I'd do anything about scenery. It looks like you're running 4 trains? I like the inclusion of the yard. Now all we need is a video for comparison.

Hi Dave,
I am using the Medvend AN-C-1 controller on 2 of my humidor layouts. I use a 9.6volt 3800mAh rechargeable R/C car battery in each one. I can only run the Marklin 0-6-0 and SeaRails PowerMax locos on them because of the small radius. I recently bought a 9volt 1500mA plug-in wall-wart that I might use to power one of the layouts. I tested the controllers on a larger radius oval first and everything that I have ran great ..... as long as it could negotiate the curves. The controller provides excellent slow-speed control but will still run the locos at a reasonable faster speed.

It looks green to me, although, I wouldn't know if it's the correct shade or not.

To save y'all from spending a lot of time searching for signals and equipment boxes on Shapeways here are some links. I've linked to the smallest quantity of each item but they can also be bought from the same sellers in larger quantities in most cases. shpws.me/D5znshpws.me/Cdggshpws.me/EVYbI look around Shapeways from time to time. I bookmark/save-as-a-favorite the shop in my browser that has what I'm interested in and then I can go there when I'm looking for something new. Shapeways now allows you to create your own lists so that you can save individual items in whatever category you want to make. You will need to order and paint the stuff from Shapeways but this is model railroading....

You can find signals on Shapeways. You might want to spend some time roaming around to see what all is there.

Hi Webskipper, I belong to a group of 3 people who have Z-Bend Track modules. We're not a traditional club, we're just a group of Z scale modelers. We don't have any club property, club officers, meetings or dues. We get together once in a while to help each other or to assemble our modules for train shows. The MidweZt HaulerZ are based in the St. Louis, MO area. We have a member located in Foley, MO (50 miles NW of St. Louis), one in Alton, IL and one in Indianapolis, IN. There are 12 modules between the 3 of us. We've just had our modular layout accepted at the NMRA NTS in Indianapolis, IN this year. I've included a picture of our layout as it appeared at a Great Train Expo in Indianapolis a few years ago and a picture of the modules I have.

The main reason for the photo was to supply a picture of a long curve on the long side of a layout/module about the same size as the layout being built. The other side of this module was a yard with passing sidings and stub-end storage tracks to the outside of the outside main line and the inside of the inside main line. The module got damaged by the sun while sitting in the back of my car during an extremely hot August day here in the St. Louis area. The last 6 inches of the whole module got warped beyond repair. The track, roadbed and even the 2-inch thick foam was warped beyond repair. I salvaged all of the track and used it on my new passenger station modules.

These are pictures of my, now defunct, ZBT yard module. It was 30 inches wide by 5+1/2 feet long. It has a sweeping curve along the long side. The tracks end up being parallel to the edge because they need to be able to connect with other modules.

Nice video, Rob. It's a shame none of those modules plan to be at the 2016 NTS in Indianapolis. Thom

Thanks, Rob,
I'm looking forward to seeing what other modelers have done with theirs.

I use the 2" rigid pink foam from Home Depot. I rabbet a 1" groove all the way around the foam so that it sits recessed in the frame. 1" of the foam is above the top of the frame and 1" is below the top of the frame. That allows me to make scenery that goes below the top of the frame as deep as 2" if I want to. I have even added more foam to the bottom to make deeper cuts. I've done this on my trestle module and cut away some of the frame too so that the tracks at the top of the trestle are 3 + 3/4" from the bottom of the river that it crosses.

How about a place to show what we've done with the 5 & 10 packs of undecorated GP38-2s ? Here is one I did for Ellen Shelton who is a member of the MidweZt HaulerZ and lives in Indiana.

I've been buying from Full Throttle (Uncle Will) for a very long time. Will does extensive research on each car and he's got his own wheels, trucks and couplers...all of which work flawlessly. You won't be disappointed with any of the Full Throttle products.

Beautiful job, Dom! This shows what can be done with some work. The manufacturers can't make everything in all the liveries we like so we need to be able to do some of it on our own.
