Arnie, what are you doing with a SD45. CSX don't run them anymore.

Arnie, what are you doing with a SD45. CSX don't run them anymore. A little somethin' out west involving a Class II; we handle them quite often actually, as leaser units trailing only or consisted in as DIT [that's Dead in Tow...think LTEX]. Even when DIT, they still retain plows.....

Sorry we got a reject on our email response to you. The SD45s do not come with the extra truck.
Some of the SD45s are packaged with pilots only. Others have the pilot and plow combination. I have not specifically checked the MRL to know if they are suppose to come with a plow or not.

The SD45 is a great runner, and I was hoping for a N&W high nose release to go with my Southern and NS SD45s, but I'm guessing / hoping this just means those N&W units will be available in, well, 2+ years ...

Used to see the N&W highhood SD45's alot in the early 80's, all the way up here in the Seattle area on the UP, usually running with UP's SD45's.

I remember an UP freight on the Tehachapi Loop at the beginning of the 2000s. At the point, 3 units : a couple of UP SD70M and a NS High-Nosed GP38-2. Dom

Cool when I was a kid, seeing those all black ominous locos rolling thru town, when I was used to UP and BN only!!I have a couple old 35mm pics I gotta' find to scan and show on here. I remember thinking, dang that's a mean looking loco with the high nose, all black, and an SD45 that was powerful, you could feel it go by!

Here now some pictures showing the height difference....and the fix! I had to mill and saw the chassis to bring the shell right down, now the shell is resting on the circuit board holders. I offer the conversion now, you can contact me via PM or on my Facebook page if you are interested. Before: After: What happened to the pictures?
