so what is the white shell? An RP, styrene or stripped MTL GP35? Appears to be an undec GP38-2 which should be (what i glean from the author's assumption) at the same height as the SD45.

OK, perfect. While I have all 4 of the SD45's apart to install the DCC (it is NOT the same motor and the boards barely make contact) plus the skinny frame leaves the truck pickups in complete free air along the side of the frame, they need some careful tweaking to assure continuous contact while leaning or turning. Argh.
I lessen the height while I am at it.

I'm just surprised with comments about AZL model's excessive height when looking at the picture below. Are you guys sure that prototype SD45 would be the same height above rails than, let's say a GP38-2 as Gerd says? Dom

In my opinion I agree with mzbringh. The height problem is a result of the truck towers being too tall. there is a large gap between the chassis and the top of the truck. this also makes the gap from the top of the coupler box to the shell really big. its not a big problem to most people because its not that bad when looking down at the engine. but if your layout is closer to eye level it jumps out like a sore thumb.

I just saw the July part 1 release. Good to see that the GP30s are back. And I do want a Katy if I have a chance to get hold of one. But I was kind of expecting a SD45 release. Are you done with releasing SD45s? I'm waiting for the release of Wisconsin Central that I expect will show up eventually. Or do you just have so much good stuff to release that you have a struggle to spread them out evenly? ;-)
Cheers Mikael

Hi Mikael, We have plenty of other road names to release including: D&RGW, BN, UP, WC, MILW, DH and NS. Yes you are correct, we need to spread the releases out.

Chris,
On mine, the shell cant go low enough. There is an edge at the chassis. The shell sits along this. Need to grind/file it off.

In case anyone else is wondering about their SD45; my MRL SD45 [#321] came with no replacement truck, but had two pilots, one for the A-end and B-end, but no plow included; the pilots don't even have mounting holes for a plow. Still waiting to hear back from galactic headquarters...
