We are lucky AZL are so proactive with releases each month, the UK suppliers are becoming more secretive now so other suppliers don't know what they are up to.We should be thankfull AZL keep us up to date, so stop giving them hassle it's not needed

Wasn't my intent to "hassle" them just ask why the secrecy. they let us know about the sd70 releases and others just wondering why not this one that's all. Not looking for dates just "if" it might be made. I also agree with you about how lucky we are for AZL to produce sooo many new products for this scale if not for them this scale would be dead.

So I got my SP SD45 yesterday and had a closer look. Many highlights like the detailed shell, very thin and sturdy plastic railings, the head lights on the short hood, but I'm very disappointed about the height of the engine. According to info from a fellow Z scaler it's caused by wrongly designed trucks. But not only that, to make up for it the tank and chassis at the base is too high too. Rob and Hanns, any fixes down the track? When I place the SD45 next to the MTL SD40-2 it looks like Pat & Patachon...

Maybe you can lift the shell just a litle. What if you put it next to a GP30 or GP38-2? Since the. SD40-2 and GP35 from MTL are also a little off size.. /Frank

Here now some pictures showing the height difference....and the fix! I had to mill and saw the chassis to bring the shell right down, now the shell is resting on the circuit board holders. I offer the conversion now, you can contact me via PM or on my Facebook page if you are interested. Before: After:

I don't have as much problem, visually, with the height as I have with the gap between the truck and the body. Looks terrible. And quoting from Gerd's Facebook page switching trucks to SD70 didn't work either. So Gerd's modification seem to be the way forward. Nice work Gerd.

Gerd looks better. Unfortunately you now have to deal with a coupler height issue.

First I had the impression from the conversation that the shell was too low... Lowering the shell definitly improves its appearance. Now I am well informed/prepared for when my road choise will be launched. Is there still enough room for the pcb? /Frank

so what is the white shell? An RP, styrene or stripped MTL GP35? For the front pilot, likely not too low or likely able to raise at least 1/2 way? For running and consisting, I usually just leave the truck mounts. (we can close the back gap a bit was we run larger radii).
