These pictures are stunning. In my opinion, with brass locomotives made by Ajin, AZL reached the pinnacle of rail modeling. My greatest regret as a Z scale collector is that I couldn’t afford them 15/20 years ago, when they were released. Nowadays, their prices having skyrocketed, I am just happy with looking at dioramas and videos of such masterpieces :-)

Well, not much news on the Maxi-I front, but if you're wanting to expand your intermodal fleet here's a nice announcement from MTL: I love weathered/graffitied rolling stock

Hello.
I noticed that the much beloved and ever popular Hiawatha trains are very difficult to get in any scale (HO, N) and material (plastic, brass etc). Unfortunately, Fox Valley was on the point of releasing some great stuff, but got bogged in the Affa crisis.
A few months ago I was going to purchase a brass Hiawatha F7 4-6-4, but it came and went in a few minutes :-(
How is it this line is so scarcely produced, given its popularity?

Me too. My understanding was that the FA-1 was to be released in Autumn 2018. But it is now MIA

A fantastic set! Thank you, AZL :-) I dare say the UP E8s were totally unexpected

Hans, without disclosing too much, is there any railroad you would like to suggest, as far as a potential EMD E8 purchase is concerned? As some locos are going indefinitely out of stock, I do not want to regret missing the opportunity to match them with the corresponding lightweights :-)

Even though I am a huge fan of factory weathered cars (I own several ones by MTL), in this case I am thinking more of a way to support AZL in this difficult period. Buying a limited run of selected cars or even sets of cars plus locos, would be a fine way for the customer base to show AZL guys our support and recognition for everything they did in the past years. We could get something very collectible and AZL could clear some of the oldest stock :-)

To rekindle the AZL world, while waiting for a new manufacturer to be found, wouldn't it be a good idea to sell part of existing stock as weathered and/or graffitied stuff?
I am taking inspiration from old US brass trains importers, who commissioned factory pro colouring of otherwise unpainted models. They sold stuff as "factory painted", but as a matter of fact they just imported raw models and had them painted by pros, before putting them into the market.

I also have a bit of concern regarding the recent appearance of rare locomotives coming from Hong Kong. When did AZL use pink vacuform for locomotive nests? Mark When cheap chinese counterfeits start popping-up, it is the highest form of recognition for any brand :-P Seriously, every time I see the prices that old AZL brass commands on the secondary market, I cannot help wondering why AZL herself, or other Z scale manufacturers, do not focus on that business :-)

I hope the N&W J class comes before anything else. After all, it was already in an advanced stage of production, was it not? :-P
