I wonder if Frank got any...been quiet. I was pondering that third unit and thought I might give him some love. zscalehobo you got your ears on? Honestly, didn't know this release was even coming - I've been focused on Heritage stuff and totally whiffed on this one as a potential pre-order for dealers. That's why I've been quiet: Nothing to post, I won't post it. But you nudged me ... With the prospect of rare releases dropping at any instant, I pretty much live on the awesome Ztrack dealer site the day before releases ... in spite of refreshing the dealer page every 20 minutes starting 12 hours in advance of normal release times (normal release times are approx 0000EDT usually on day of release), I still missed out on this one. Upon refreshing the page at 1018PM EDT day before of theoretical release day, they were all snatched up. I'm on a waiting list and am hopeful, but if I get none - that's life - you snooze, you lose. I'll still stay optimistic and continue my policy of leaving a few for others if there's a decent number available instead of attempting to corner a market. If it's something less than 5, I would grab them all - maybe that's what happened; No idea. But this is a great sign for AZL and dealers that there's a good amount of interest in these items - and I will add that you can't go wrong with the people who have them available. Related to the thread topic, I have a few open slots of pre-orders and in stock releases ... Open slots to pre-order: *UP Powered by our People SD70ACe #1111 *UP WP Heritage SD70ACe #1983 >1pc available *UP KATY Heritage SD70ACe #1988 >1pc available *UP CNW Heritage SD70ACe #1995 1pc available *UP Pink Ribbon ES44AC #7400 >1pc available "Rare gems" still in stock: GE Demo SD70ACe #2012 - 1pc UP SP Heritage SD70ACe 1996 - 1pc* (this was pre-ordered by someone on the board and they've ghosted me)

TCS has a new decoder which fits ... the SD40 ... The TCS-1561 AZL2D5 that was to fit in the SD40-2 was Recalled due to production problems. TCS updated me today saying 6-8 weeks before the boards can be sent out again.

the AZL dealer that's located in prime DRGW territory (nscalesupply) did not receive any for the locals who buy in the store That's a sad case to be sure, but ... in that dealers email inbox on January 29 at 8:59AM PST (dealer email blast) was a warning from Rob K: "We are expecting interest in this run to be very strong. For that reason, we are encouraging dealers to place standing orders for these upcoming releases. While we can’t guarantee all orders, we will ensure dealers with standing orders receive first allotments."
It was tough to tell at that moment that this was going to be that crazy. But it was critical for dealers to heed Rob's email in this case. After speaking with Frank at ZScaleHobo, he said he has a list for the heritage locos where people can sign up to purchase one of the future releases among the number that has been pre-allocated to his store. Seems like a great idea for people who HAVE to have a certain release. Warning: my pre-order lists are nearly filled.

To be fair, it's not quite accurate to say that nobody is (was) interested in the NS heritage offerings. Roughly half of them eventually sold out ... Which NS heritage is sold out? Maybe you mean the SD70ACe's. Here's a snip of the dealer portal as of right now searching "NS Heritage" ... * ES44AC's appear to be all present and accounted for with -1 thru -10 available and without giving up the proprietary inventory details, there are quite a few of each available. And these ES44ACs were even promoted with a "subscription program" with dealer notification in May 2017. * For SD70ACe - only -6, -7, & -8 remain and those are light on inventory levels. These were released in May 2016 until December 2016 8 of them and 3 still available here 8 years later. The Erie (-3) and Illinois Terminal (-9) lasted well into the middle of 2018. The question mark in this "report" is what the production numbers were for the NS ES44ACs which given the warm to lukewarm response of the NS SD70ACe in 2016, I'm not sure they'd bump it up, but we don't know what happened behind the scenes or what was required MOQ (minimum ordering quantities) to do the 2017 NS Heritage ES44AC run. So I tend to agree that nobody is bit harsh, but the response appears to be polar opposite of what happens here with the UP Heritage units - TWICE. Same phenomenon happened in 2016 for the UP Heritage units - I have a release email for the 2016 DRGW release indicating it was in short supply and even standing dealer orders were not going to be filled.

I got several but still trying to do some Easter stuff over here with family. Had pre orders open for a couple of weeks already with lukewarm response ... the remaining will be available first come, first served Monday morning some time once I have the new items pages up.

Yes, you are right. Let me clarify it: there are 3 separate light functions in this decoder: 2 for the front lights (1 upper LED + 1 lower LED) and 1 for rear lights. So when you say "lower LED" I assume that is for the ditchlights? There could be an opportunity to tap into that, since ditchlights and beacons/strobes were generally never the same era. (admittedly the era of RCL's has changed that over the past 20 years.) I think it would be a better idea to just hardwire the ZM05A which has more outputs. He has an upper and lower LED on the board. Comment on my product page on my site: "There are extended light features - the special dual LED configuration of the front lights can be adjusted by decoder settings to fit into different variations of SD40-2 locomotives - with upper headlights above the driver's cabin or without them."
