Did we really have to dig up an 11-year-old post (in which, btw, one of the participants is deceased) just to say Merry Christmas?

Since nobody else chimed in about the issues...
I think the nose width is probably the main complaint. Everything else would probably relate to prototype specific details, etc. The long hood might be slightly wide too, I'm not certain about that. I'm sure once enough of these get out in the wild someone will take some side-by-sides to show the differences.
For all the consternation about MTL's width issues, I personally don't think they look bad. In fact, had I known AZL would bail on the body mount couplers I probabaly would have kept mine. And if MTL does a BNSF H1 I'll probably pick one or two up since it's probably going to be 8-10 years before AZL gets around to it, if ever.

Hans Riddervold (AZL) ztrack Rob Albritton I thought when you announced the Maxi-IV's and Spine Cars (and related containers and trailers) that you mentioned they would be available separately. That has been the case for the trailers, (thanks!) but any word on when the containers might be available? I'll also throw in my request for the JB Hunt containers without the INTERMODAL sublettering which dates the containers to post-2012. While it's possible to remove the lettering, it takes a lot of time (the ends are particularly difficult to remove easily/quickly) and I want a couple dozen of these likely. That's certainly not a rush request...just meaning whenever you guys get around to doing another run it would be nice to have.

How soon can we get the white Amazon container with blue arrow? Rob A. didn't seem to appreciate my question when I asked him... Did you ask about them selling the containers individually? What was the answer? I've been curious myself. Plenty of 40s and 53s I would like to have. [EDIT: Nevermind, misread your request.] I may actually have one of the Amazon 53s for sale...was pending but I think the buyer is having to alter his purchase after Black Friday. (general, not AZL's) [EDIT: this isn't a white one, it's the blue one.]

We just listed a AOK / CNW set on Ztrack Resale. www.ztrackresale.comPlus a few other rare AZL items.... Yes those are the link I sent. I was trying to give them a head start on the general population here, but it's been 12 hours now. I was thinking about buying them myself since the price is good. But I bought some Atlas flextrack instead.

Does anyone have an AZL PS2CD in AOK/CNW, FURX CO OP or NOKL / CNW they would want to sell? n2z83 just wanted to make sure you got my PM about a possible source for some of these cars. Better hurry though...

This release is a little bit hard to swallow for me. Even though Amazon started out in 1994 and changed to Amazon 1995, the logo never came out until 2000. blog.logomyway.com/history-amazon-logo-design/The last time I saw spine cars being used was the early '90's. But I'm not sure when they were stopped being used altogether. Spine cars remain widely in-use still to this day. Thousands of 3 and 5 unit cars of the 53ft and 57ft variety are utilized daily. The only spines no longer active are the 48ft cars, with many of them scrapped or “stretched” through rebuild programs to accommodate longer trailers. However, regarding the Amazon trailers, it’s a different issue. Logo information notwithstanding, they didn’t start running their own fleet of these trailers until around 2015. So they're valid for about the last 8 years or so.

True, I have no idea what AZL is planning. I mean if I had to answer all of your questions, I would say Yes, Yes, and Yes. There's probably a greater than zero percent chance of both of those latter two things happening. Might be 0.0001%, but there's a chance.

Like that. Say, any chance of a week five? As such, any chance one could provision a four-car set of Baltimore and Ohio heavyweights? If so, any chance for two paired window coaches, a parlor car, and a 10-1-2 in Baltimore and Ohio livery (rather, glory)? According to their original post about Black Friday, we have two more Fridays.

I wonder if they had horns located in a different area...maybe on the side? I do notice that at least some of the Geeps in the sale have horns. Good news, it's an easy enough fix. May not be the exact horn appropriate for the loco/railroad, but it's something... www.zscalemonster.com/mt/gp35/gp35.htm

Did you get them from the Black Friday sale a few years back? That may be why...seems some of the AZL BF stuff is "scratch & dent" from the Island of Misfit Toys. The ACF hoppers from 2-3 years ago had about 90% broken couplers when I got them. So, missing horns wouldn't surprise me. I got two of those C&O's but I don't recall if there are horns on them...I already resold one and the other one is in pieces right now.

Not sure what you are referencing...can't tell for sure but it looks like the horn is missing?

Great trains, great scenes.
Love the unit coal train going through the deep rock cut. Really nice.

Approximately what time period? I might be tempted back into these Without a lengthy research project/thesis defense, I would peg this scheme as "Mid-70s to Mid-80s" and perhaps some creeping up to 1990 or so. But, assuming the lettering removal is similar to other AZL stuff, (and assuming you can find decals) you could slide the era forward or backward on these fairly easily. (again, the difficulty is really finding the decals) As the 80s pass by, you would have to change some details....like the color of the trucks, remove the beacon, etc. (and add the beacon back if you really push forward to the age of RCL beyond the mid-2000s) Here's some really interesting reading on the subject: utahrails.net/up/up-diesel-paint-index.php . I expect AZL will do a more modern UP run at some point either next go-round or later in this one. So I wouldn't get too crazy with attempting to alter these. They do look great though! I can't wait to get a BN or ATSF.
