Actually AZL has produced a number of cabooses all the basic forms: www.americanzline.com/category/caboose/As much as I would like to see more cabooses, the problem is there were very few “standard” cabooses which makes modeling them at the detail we have grown accustomed to from AZL difficult. Most cabooses were home-built and factory built units rebuilt at a drop of the hat. Considering Scott’s example, were they wide-vision cupolas? How many windows? straight or sloped sides? How many windows downstairs? What locations? Unless you’re modeling a specific railroad and era it’s difficult to be accurate. Which is probably why the link above are $200 brass. Personally I’d love to see this: But I really don’t expect it to be produced.. Mark

Robert can whip that out for you in the morning, before coffee! Or I can cut and paste an existing bay window caboose and a 40' flatcar. Can't expect Robert to do everything. I think the only reason he'd do it is it's in Daylight colors

And why not make a RS-3 in NYC colour scheme ? We did... ...but after production we discovered that they had COMPLETELY WRONG road numbers on them (Our mistake) so they we not released.

Sell the stock at a reduced price ... All the way I wonder if anybody would have noticed the mistake especially in Z, with a magnifying glass (if it is only related with the numbers) : sure that concerning myself (and perhaps some european modellers) I (we ? ) would not, if nobody underlines it ! Not everybody searchs for the prototypes, and it would perhaps be interesting for beginners.

They could definitely be sold as changing road numbers is easy enough, or just use them as alberich says , who would notice in Z cale anyway .!
AZL please sell them

I, myself, prefer having a prototypical model ready to go. I believe that is AZL's goal. Case in point, they worked on this model for 3 years before the announcement of the release not to mention the SD40-2 release, and furthermore, posting each Roads' specific "Prototypical Details." So to get to the "end of the road" on this and have the wrong road #'s, I understand AZL's decision not to offer these. In some cases, the modeler has to tweak some detail(s) to match their liking for the prototype their modeling. I, like others on this forum, have had to do this. I don't necessarily agree with reducing the price - if the inventory is still available. As the previous post mentioned, "changing road numbers is easy enough" I couldn't agree more.....Cab, Fore and Aft #'s can be removed without taking the model apart, the number boards could just be overlaid. My suggestion....include a replacement set of # Decals for those that would want to replace them. I'm sure AZL has considered this...but that is their decision, their product. I don't model NYC but I would attempt this if the inventory was still available, Like my Grandfather used to say "0% of nothin' is nothin."

And this will perhaps sound like a joke : many modeller colleagues were waiting for the (passenger) "COLA" ; for myself I wonder why there are no FREIGHT "billboard cola" (Coca or Pepsi) cars ... Such colourful cars would look fine in a freight train !

Such colourful cars would look fine in a freight train ! Both Pepsi and Cola cars are out there. Marklin released a 3 car Coke Cola Commuter car set Marklin 8790 And I have a Pepsi Locomotive Marklin 88492 and 9 different Pepsi cars in my collection. They are others out there you just got to look for them.

Maybe AZL can get licensing for Coca-Cola or Pepsi trailers for they're new 53' trailers, I see them in just about every town!
I've seen a few on BNSF Z-trains here and there too.

Märklin models are all european cars ... and I saw some US models on the Bay, but in N ! And unfortunately trailers are not for me, because the corresponding cars are too "modern", not suitable for the 1965 era. There is a set of printed woodside reefers, but this needs kitbashing the cars. It seems that AZL is mainly interested in "contemporary" models and unfortunately MTL focuses too much on collector models, whose prototypes never existed : "State" series, "War of the Worlds" (and Micro-Mouse ; I saw even a " robot train", I wonder seriously if this is the best way to interest youngsters ... ! )

"I saw even a "robot train"
Yah, I'd barely be interested in that loco, and that's about it!
