Great video and anxious to see which schemes hit the shelves first. Can you give us an update as to the pricing and if it is going to hold with what you suggested above? Just looking at an average of a few of the top e-tailers, the above would make the street price for the P42's hovering around $195 and the Superliner cars would be around $55 each. That sound about right?

Great video and anxious to see which schemes hit the shelves first. Can you give us an update as to the pricing and if it is going to hold with what you suggested above? Just looking at an average of a few of the top e-tailers, the above would make the street price for the P42's hovering around $195 and the Superliner cars would be around $55 each. That sound about right? Not sure which stores you were looking at, but I see minimum $218, another $229, another $246 and the rest have no pricing yet for p42. Then you are probably not looking at pricing for SD70ACe's and Heavyweight passenger cars, as referenced in the quote. "Pricing is subject to change, but the ES44 will most likely be the same as the SD70ACe pricing, and I expect the P42 will also be very similar to the SD70ACe. Superliners will probably be about $5 more than Heavyweights each, but they will include interiors (but no lighting)"
See: www.azlforum.com/post/6453/thread for the original thread and comment about pricing from Rob A. (the source of the quote) The original suggested pricing was seemingly a wild-arse-guess based on the reality that costs can change significantly over the course of a product's development and release to production...and you want to shoot high when estimating that to better manage expectations. And, frankly, it was initially beyond what many of us were willing to spend. So Rob's comment gave some of us the impetus to place a reservation based on a fairly significantly lower price estimate. Now, I've not been in Z very long, and maybe that's just BS and I'll get stuck with an order that is more expensive than I'm expecting and that I'm comfortable with budget-wise. If that's the case, it's a lesson learned..and behavior that I won't repeat. But for now, I was just trying to see where reality has things.

To quasi-answer my own question... MBK showing P42's for $177.39 and sets for $207.99. (the sets all show out of stock at the moment, but that's not unusual for MBK to "restock" at their whims.)

The body mount couplers on the P42 are in fact spring loaded and will AutoLatch.
The spring has a very light action, and if thrown all the way to one side, it will go over the limits of the spring and stay in that position, so just make sure the coupler is in the middle before you try to latch it. Coupling on curves is more challenging that coupling on straights.
The reason for this light action is it allows the coupler arm to swing easily, but the knuckle still has spring tension on it, so it stays closed.
We just ran 2x P42 locomotives non stop for 14 hours from 9a to 5p on staurday and again 10a to 4p on sunday at the Timmonium train show in Baltimore. This was done on our local Z-Bend track modular layout. Not one single uncouple. These locomotives pulled 28 cars (16 superliners and 12 auto racks) the whole time, straight out of the box with no tuning or special care.
The video below will give you some idea of the pulling power of the P42, and how well the couplers work:

I would appreciate a low stock alert.
...If possible.
I'd hate to miss out on anything in the catalog...

The 72052-1 Superliner set is nearly sold out. We do have plenty of the other sets.

Well, we are now in september 2017, so I proceeded to cancel my p42 via rail order and asked that the deposit be put elsewhere... over a year since the others were released, awful
This was the first time I put a deposit on an item, and the last
