I cannot tell you the exact release plan of the F3s, simply because it may change. But I can tell you some of the roadnames that we have in the first run. Remember, we will release one F3 set a month. D&RGW, NYC, PRR, SP (Black Widow), UP, NP, GN, CN, SOU and B&O (these are not in release order except the D&RGW) Sincerely, Hans Where is ATSF as promised in 2014 ? |

Very nice! Even if it breaks my heart, as the units I will maybe purchase in the future will undergo a paint & decal scrape process in order to be repainted with a current shortline paintscheme.... (because I guess there won't be any undecs, according to AZL's new policy, am I allright?)

There is no set policy on undecorated units. But the fact is that they do not sell well.
But the real problem is what to offer. With all the different possibilities, what is the chance of offering one that fits you. We have 4 different bodies. Two different sets of Roof fans, Dynamic brake (or not), Steam generators (or not), Freight pilot or Passenger pilot, large number boards or flush number boards.
That is why we will at least wait some years before we offer an undecorated F unit.

Think the GNs are for passenger service since they have the steam generators. Most of our photos support this as well. Sincerely, Hans

re: undecorated units. I think part of the desire for undecorated units from AZL is that in the past, AZL paint was very difficult to strip. Is AZL still using super durable paint? When I stripped the first run GP7s it took several hours of soaking in warm IPA/rubbing alcohol and lots of scrubbing with a tooth brush.

New paint is much easier to strip. It is the same process used by Atlas, ExactRail, and other major manufactures.
