Have to agree the new ACL E8 is pretty. Would it be safe to say the only rolling stock that would match this engine is the marklin ACL streamlined passenger set?

At the moment, the Maerklin ACL streamlined passenger set would be the best match for the AZL E8A. Since the E8A and E8B for that matter are also going to be offered by Maerklin, they have a truck with their coupler. I will ask Maerklin if AZL could carry the Maerklin truck with the Maerklin coupler as a spare part. If we get the green light, it would be very easy to match ACL and perhaps a few other releases with Maerklin passenger car sets. If Maerklin objects (and they are free to do so), customers can always obtain the truck with the Maerklin coupler through an authorised Maerklin dealer. I would love to hear some feedback from the Forum on this issue. Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

That would be great. I'm not a fan of the fish hook couplers but changing all my passenger cars over isn't happening any time soon. It would be nice for my ATSF, SP daylight , PRR, and the ACL. Hope I don't need to go through Marklin. Getting parts from them is a VERY VERY painful adventure. I've waited more than 6 months for a part Marklin had in stock. Has something to do with Walthers. So if you could bypass that it would be awesome.

Personally I think I'd prefer to have a transition car (probably the baggage) with a Marklin coupler at one end rather than to have that unsightly coupler on my loco. But that's just a gut feeling, no practical experience so far.
So does that mean that only Marklin will be offering an ACL B unit ? In that case the transition car obviously wouldn't help.
cheers Adrian

I have mounted a MTL body-mount coupler to the body of my Marklin baggage car so that I could run it with other MFGs locos.

I totally forgot. MTL has made a change out coupler Magne-Matic for the Marklin coupler. That is they quickest way to mate the AZL locomotive with the Marklin ACL passenger cars. As for ACL, I am not sure they had E8B units? Sincerely, Hans

I for one would love to have the option to pick up a truck with a Marklin coupler on it. I plan to pick up and run a few A+A E8/9's in several Roads. Putting a truck with the Marklin coupler on the front of one unit would allow me to pull cars no matter what stile coupler they have by simply turning the pair of A units around and hooking to the other end.

And yes, you're quite right of course, ACL didn't have any E8B units, what was floating through my mind were E7B units - completely different story, of course. cheers Adrian

Burlington Caboose is nice but FW&D of all things? And not CB&Q??? I just think that is so strange.

So if you could bypass that it would be awesome. This was an unfortunate move by Marklin. I refuse to do business with Walthers. They might be okay for other scales, but they are not serious in supporting Z-scale. I recommend trying to find what you are wanting through German eBay. Google translate works great... but, it does take a lot of time trying to find what you are wanting. If you can stomach social media, Facebook has several Marklin groups that are EU based. Some members are always helpful in trying to obtain those hard to find Marklin parts.

As of this year, Walther's is no longer the exclusive US Distributor for Marklin. Time will tell if the situation will improve, but I sure hope so! Why is the FW&D strange? The Burlington was a consortium of a large number of smaller roads. The FW&D was purchased by the C&S (Colorado Southern) in 1899. The C&S was purchased by the Burlington in 1908. Texas law stated that railroads operating in the state had to have a headquarters in the state. That is why the FW&D appeared on train cars as it was still head quartered in Texas even though the Burlington was the parent company. Burlington equipment could be seen with a number of 'fallen flag' reporting including C&S! By they way, when the BN came into being, these cabooses were painted green with the white BN logo... but the reporting marks were still FW&D! Check out the Wikipedia for more information on the road: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Worth_and_Denver_RailwayRob

The ACL did have E8B Units. 765-B and 766-B. They were acquired by the ACL in 1965 from EMD after being traded by the RF&P in that same year on an order for GP35s. They went on to be assigned SCL numbers 670-B and 671-B and both were retired in 1972 not being conveyed to Amtrak. They were the former RF&P 1052 and 1053. Yellow and black was the only ACL/SAL paint scheme that they ever wore. My regards, Cliff

I recently purchased a Marklin loco and set of cars from www.ajckids.com and they had pretty good service, on their website they claim to be an authorized USA Marklin dealer so as Rob said Walther's no longer has a monopoly!
