Hi!
Adding some bushes etc. Had the urge to do some detailing in advance 😅. Here’s a video:

Nice work, Nebraska. Very nice.
Tell us what you finally went with to carve your rock formations.
Looks like somebody is making their deadline.
Rock on! … Rather, … Kippis!

Kippis for sure! 😀 I actually made a mix of basic gypsum and tile grout. 3/4 gypsum and 1/4 tile grout. They are hand carved. Well the yard area is completely undone and that is not going to make it. It’s the front of the layout and I want to pay extra attention to it. But the landscape and the small town will make the deadline. Thanks and BR, Eino

Not only are you skilled in the multifarious hobby of model railroading, you are skilled in time management. You knew to cut your losses in order to make the deadline.
Notwithstanding, I like very much your idea of a connecting an adjacent yard—A plethora of Märklín track. Yes?
Very shrewd to devise a mix of gypsum and (presumably non-sanded) tile grout for (sculpting and carving or) modeling rock.
I hope someday you can get your hands on Hydrocal, for your own sake, so you may have a chance to compare it with the mix you used here.
I see you’re no stranger to Woodland Scenics. There’s many possibilities for turf, paint, pigments, and texturizing with Sculptamold. I like that you took an interest in all of that and did a fine job in execution.
Best—Rather, …
Kippis for sure!

Thank you for the kind words.
Yeah the mix turned out well. Maybe I’ll try the WS hydrocal with my H0 layout but I sort of dislike the price.
The yard has 10 isolation points with on/off switches so I can park quite a lot of locos and cars there. The design does not meet the track plan of a working yard, but suits my needs.
There are several industries along spur tracks at the yard so I can do little switching. I could say it’s not really a yard but a big industrial area actually.
So there be several buildings, roads, link fences etc to do. No way that I’d make it by the deadline.
Yeah. Lot of Märklin track. Most of it 2nd hand from eBay.

Hi,
Exhibition is in two weeks but I have my sister’s wedding in between. Gonna get tight with the schedule.
Just started gluing down buildings and planting trees. Here’s a video:
