SD40T-2s* in popular culture … shot of an SD40T-2s in an early scene from the movie The Electric Horseman with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. Caught it on Netflix. This is the moment in the film in which we hear the enormously popular Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson version of “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.” Ten years ago Windows 7 let you take a screenshot of Netflix. Function seems disabled now. So, please, forgive the picture of a picture quality. Second to Warbonnet Super Chief, I feel the Bloody Nose Southern Pacific with serif lettering is one of most American-looking locomotive paint schemes. Bloody Nose may be the proper term but I think of it as Lark Dark Gray. Reference AZL GP30, GP9, SD45, SW1500, and the E8 in that paint scheme. They’re just aesthetically pleasing or classy. Also, Southern Pacific Bloody Nose makes me think of Bakersfield and Buck Owens. Oh well, back to East Coast modeling. *Second SD40T-2 appears to have the long nose or snoot nose. Scott Attachments:

I am a latecomer to this group. Have the AZL SD40T-2 "Tunnel Motors" been produced, or are they still in production? I am looking for the DRGW flavored ones. Thank you.

Thank you AZL! These Southern Pacific Tunnel Motors are simply amazing. And they look right at home on my Truckee River layout. The only thing missing from these ready to run Espee SD40T-2 locomotives is their typical layer of soot and grime. Thank you AZL!!! Bill Mock

More great stuff. (Ladies and gentlemen, keep ’em comin’.)
Awesome!
What a soothing surreal effect with the lifesize greenery as backdrop! Bokeh balls there is a nice complementary effect.
Simple but supremely effective weathering on west coast hoppers and Railbox boxcars. The selection of freight cars is subtle, likely, and well done.
Mixed colors in ballast and rusty rails—Nice.
Nice slopes in the layout. Tracks not sitting on the same plane.
Can’t say one-green clump foam from a bag was glued in place. Can’t say track nailed down on plywood. Layers of color, layers of texture, layers of contrast—That’s what makes the scene so visually appealing, and … right.
Layers, layers, layers.
There’s evergreens. There’s deciduous trees. There’s scree and rocks in the terrain. There’s tall grass here and there. There’s bushes and shrubs varying in size and color. None of this was done in 20-minutes.
Southern Pacific SD40T-2s facing forward elephant-style. Very cool, indeed.
Appreciated greatly.
Got room for Chessies?
Scott
