Any chances of getting a preview of the much anticipated SW1000/1500 paint schemes? Also, will there be an ability to order in advance? Is there a graphic showing the forecast color schemes?

I saw on railroadpictures that the SW1500 looks VERY SIMILAR with the NYC SW7 (the only difference I saw are the "roofs" over the exhausts ; or are there other differences ? ). Can we expect such a model in a near future ? I couldn't find any PROTOTYPICAL SW1500 at NYC on railroadpictures page....

That's Dave's way of saying: "I already did it!" BUT BUT BUT .... We are still working on a simple way to get the shell off. This thing is a real doozy. OK so Yes there is enough room for a decoder. I have successfully installed a decoder in my SW1500 and its running Just fine But having room to install a decoder is useless unless we can find a way to remove the shells without damaging anything in the process. Rob I will be sending you some pictures and maybe a video of one possible solution later tonight Dave, Which decoder did you install into your SW1500? Looking to do the same to mine.

Dave, can you perhaps tell me the cavity dimensions of the cab, guess that's where you fitted the decoder

You can see and imagine on Zmodell's post under 'Z Scale' topic: Zmodell digital decoder for AZL SW1500 switching locomotive Link to images: azlforum.com/thread/2056/zmodell-digital-decoder-switching-locomotiveDue to Alex's Ukraine (and family issues), this will never be made. However, others are working on it. It will still be some time. Some of the smallest decoders will still be highly limited and functions (mainly lighting). The shells ARE fragile, but there are ways/steps that make is 'somewhat' easier. Twisting and prying out the trucks help *BUT* this not only damages the trucks bolster (somewhat), they are mounted offset from the 'middle' so pulling on the bottom center of the truck (like you would think) isn't the best. There are shell parts in the way too. The Cab can be taken off (just like the RSD's and others) but SOooo many chances to break something off there too. But it really helps the shell to expand. AND, you should use 'Shims' (THIN metal 'blade' with plastic handle) to sneak in between the frame and chassis in 4 places.

Dave, can you perhaps tell me the cavity dimensions of the cab, guess that's where you fitted the decoder Sorry i don't know the dimensions for the inside of the cab. That's not where I put the decoder. I've sent Rob K. several how to writeup including one on installing a decoder in the SW1500. The last 2 issues of Z track magazine have each had one of my writeups in them. Hopefully my SW1500 writeup made the cut and will be appearing in Z-Track later this year. Which reminds me I have 2 more how-to writeups that I need to finish and send up to Rob. David

Despite of the fact that I believe that we are not "many" modellers of the NYC, can we hope to get in a "near" future a "SW-like" switcher ? I wanna use it as a "road switcher" to pull my short (5 cars + caboose) freight train on my "local" line ...

You are not alone, I have always been a fan of the New York Central. Growing up in Buffalo, and a Step Father who modeled the NYC helps. Waiting on the RS3 to be released with lightning stripes..... But a NYC switcher would be nice as well.
