Or how about the RS1325? I'd take all numbers ever built! ☺

Don't forget, AZL has SP SD70Ms still available. These also are perfect for the SP Maxi-I sets! I thought a train of the SP MAXI-Is with a couple of the SP SD70Ms would look amazing. Here is more information on these locos: espee.railfan.net/spsd70m.htmlRob Rob, While the SD70Ms would look good, they were mostly assigned to the LA-Portland route. This route has always been a mixed merchandise route with container movements rather thin. Perhaps a better suggestion are the W-E routes such as the Donner Pass/Nevada/Utah route. Here the SD45s, while older units, would be preferred for the container traffic. Today, the SD70 flavors seem to be preferred by UP over this route. Getting back on track, how about the FP7 locomotives? Nearly as many were built as the E8s. Their wheel base is longer than the F7 & short than the E units, making them distinctive. They were owned by all the major roads: NP,UP,SP,WP, PRR. 20 years or so ago I shot a SP -70M in Caliente, on the famous Tehachapi Pass.. Dom

We are not likely to make the SD70 - SD70M locomotives again. Tooling was destroyed by Sanda Kan. We rather tool up a locomotive not previously offered in Z instead than going back to the SD70.
The FP7 is also a long shot. But we will within a year offer F7s

We have locally designed and produced our own drawbars using super high resolution 3d printing. It is a simple part that took a ton of testing, but I think we got it "right." They will be shipped to Ztrack Distribution next week. I do not know if there will be a fee for them or not, but it should be reasonably priced. Take a look of the attached photo - is that close enough for you? Enjoy, -Rob(A) AZL

As I recall, both AZL and the MTL have solicited "wish lists." The only problem is that after about three days the list could best be summed up as everything. We'll get on that straight away.

Rob(A), nice work. Just make sure are instructions, unlike some prior deliveries Same with other spare parts, like Trucks, that have no description, just part numbers.

Rob(A), nice work. Just make sure are instructions, unlike some prior deliveries Same with other spare parts, like Trucks, that have no description, just part numbers. Good point. Although the instructions will probably be a more detailed version of: 1) Remove coupler box top. 2) Replace coupler guts with drawbar. 3) Put coupler box top back on. For fun, I put a drawbar on some of our newer autoracks - BAD IDEA - it is way too close! (Although I suspect they would be perfect on bethgons) For the F units the length should be perfect. Take a look at the two parts comparison.

I hadn't heard from you in so long regarding the missing drawbars so I was wondering if I should try something else or not. Do you know what part number I should order from AZL Direct? BTW - would this also work on the E8/9 B units? If so I would need to order a bunch of them.

This reminds me that Marklin used to make drawbars in different sizes (lengths) depending on which of their locomotives/cars that you were joining together. Obviously you wouldn't use drawbars for switchers, but it does bring up the possibilities of using close coupling drawbars on other trains such as passenger cars or a long coal drag. Hmmm

I am not sure this is the right place, but here I go anyway: what about a fine new brass locomotive? We had the N&W J Class that was almost about to hit shelves. If I am not mistaken, there were also rumors for an obscure electric loco (SZL?) and a re-run of UP Big Boy. Any chance they pop up again in the pipeline? Or shall I lobby in this thread for a heavy chunk of metal ?

Sorry, for myself I would never buy a brass locomotive ... For the same money I would rather choose several injection molded ones. Brass locomotives are a fine thing ... for collectors, I think most of us are more interested in running (affordable) trains.

It was a beautiful thing to see.
