Casey, Get 5-7 different color cars. Place a color strip or dot at each desired location (like your Wymann Time Saver site example ( www.wymann.info/ShuntingPuzzles/sw-timesaver.html). Then pre-order the cars in reverse at the start. This makes easy for the young ones. Then move to type of car (wagon) and so on. And the Tunnel spur was not in the first iteration. The spur was added so that another person could play. In the simplest, each did their own puzzle. In the second iteration, they used each other’s, using that single now connected to the other’s. You need to proper timing to get your’s first.

Damn! Just a few miles from me! I looked up the TR news. Assholes. a LOT of stolen cars (mostly Kia's) and as the Nissan ads go, Zoom Zoom Zoom. Everyone drives fast here and stolen car or not, they run when the police try to pull them over. and a lot of DUI's, but this is the worst!

I,m looking for replacement trucks for the near first AZLproduct, the ACF 3-Bay’s 9030x and 9130x with 36” wheels that fall out (mostly because the car was “hefty”. I put Bowser’s 32” in when they came out an fairly well. The AZL partnumwes wher change way back (when we’re lucky to finally get spare parts) and the part numbers don’t match on the web for the types. 32” close couplers are OK but anything that can hold the axles in the truck would be appreciated :-) They’re all weathered and graffiti from wayback when and shows were the only place I ever see them, they just sit on a siding because I can’t run them.

Dave, it will be in a plastic shell, within a bubble ‘envelope’.

That is a famous “Time Saver” switching puzzle by John Allen. Good choice!

As you say in the pix, the gray tray held an NCE ‘N’14, the smaller of what I had and perfect wirering order. This was 2004? The Digitrax DZ123 was the smallest Z decoder. Lenz silver & gold Mini were smaller but harder to get in the US. A new company, CT Tran of Austria then made the smallest. Still, all no drop-in’. In 2005, I put a 4-function Digitrax into a MTL GP-35 for beacon and road number. Four an eternity, it was impossible to decoder an MTL F7. There were NO decoders for märklin for sometime. I put a 4-function in their FT:
Even N has has DCC Ready, that is after near taking it all apart.
AZL has gone throuh 4 manufacturers (not their fault) so there are different installations and even the same manufacturer has (had) a change within.

We run all of AZL (and MTL and märklin) with NCE, Digitrax, etc with 12 volts, by the ‘thousands’ all day at shows and home.
In your manual is how to set you voltage. Its easiest with shell off. The ‘Ground’ contact is labled in the front left corner. Using just a simple DC $5 meter is all you need. There is a small hole in the back to make the adjustment from 15 down to 12. Small flat screwdriver. The measure is exact, as it is the source of the voltage the the Command Station ‘flips’ the polarity’s for the DCC data. No TrueRMS ‘AC’ meter needed.
Just remember: ALWAYS WATCH YOU TRAiNS !!! If you derail, etc. there will be instant 5 Amps (50 Watts) through it for 1/4~1/2 seconds before the Booster (that left half of Power-Pro) ‘disconnects’ for same time, then back on, repeating, until your hand stops it. There are electronic Circuit Breakers for trains, that act the same way, like their EB-3 or highly popular PXS Power Shield and others, but these are primarily used on larger layouts in separate blocks/sections that trip before the main Booster does.

That is Not the decoder for that early AZL loco. The P59H has to be custom wired in. I am sorry that I did not post the process yesterday day but will today in an hour. You need any cheap 2-function decoder like Digitrax DZ126. Larger N decoders will also fit in the ‘tray’ as this is a 20+ year old design. The location is ‘square’ at the back of the chassis.
Please cancel your order.

It usually falls out. Here’s 2 ways:
Put 1 hand on table, palm facing, open hand. Other hand over loco, thumb/fingers gently surround shell. Hold ~3” high. Quickly ‘throw’ it down at slight angle so your throwing palm hits your palm on table, first. (Kinetic principle lesson of the day)
Or, small screw driver at rear, with loco upside down, slight pry out, the palm slap (see above)
Ill try and post some pix of decoder install in a hour

This decoder and added energy storage will help DCC decodered locos run more smoothly. DCC decoders are MicroControllers that make calculations and functions in micro and nano seconds. They run on coding. This is permanantly stored within however, it must be ‘initialized’ each time power is applied. Then it goes to work, usually were it left off (Speed Step, Lights etc.) This is why DCC locos can have poor running characteristics, especially dirty track, wheels, pickups, etc.
As many of you have heard of “KeepAlive” (Trademark of TCS) and other such capacitor/battery products, which are energy storage product and HUGE (size) and $1 components.
Alex has been delving in these concepts for the past years, with a mission to pack that similar power in our tiny Locos. This time, he has found a component with significant improvement over others. It will be a game changer!
