Probably smaller buildings as the layout isn't very big. I really like how the Archistories models go together but they run a tad to the large size. I found that GCLaser models are all over the place. I built his barn & silo & found it looked like N scale compared to everything on my layout. Conversely, RSLaser kits are often much too small, even in the background & I personally found them too flimsy to assemble. A highly experienced modeler might say otherwise. Hope this helps. I am tending to use more and smaller (but perfectly to scale) buildings lately, since they appear to give the layout more volume and the illusion of a larger size. An example: On Niles I did the "mistake" of constructing a building with a larger footprint, with the consequence that no other building fitted on one third of my whole layout. With a trick, namely a lot of trees, nearly a forest, I could place an optical separator between the building and the small village with its small, otherwise the big warehouse would just have been too dominant for this small layout. But see yourself;

Seems to me it's about time to start a Caliente thread. Of course Hans you know that now AZL will just have to produce the SP San Joaquin and ATSF's San Francisco Chief. Even the California Zephyr was known to take this route from time to time. Mark I knew you will like this story, Mark, And I bet AZL will produce the trains. Since the first daylight train with the legendary GS-4449 is already on the layout.............. Best, Sven

AZL LAYOUT - WEST OF CALIENTE - (Karl is in the middle) Karl Sinn has build a layout for AZL - so that the AZL Gems can be presented in a prototypical way. He has a lot of excellent pictures about this layout on his web page. Here is the link: www.spur-z-atelier.de/messestand-und-anlage/Enjoy! Best, Sven

Looks like that some folks here are a little bit shy to out themselves as "fantasy scheme likers". Nevertheless, they have asked me per e-mail to show some more pictures around the SD 45 HH, which I of course happily do. All the best, Sven

For those of you who missed some of Jens' Zettzeit Specials, here is a good chance to grab some of the last: And here the boxes (the difference is brown vs green paint) Best, Sven Hi, Sven. These locos are made of brass, are they not? Unlike the scandinavian locos FR has currently for sale. I do not want to sound gross, but the price diffence between brass and plastic is surprisingly small. I guess this makes the A3/5 and A 3/6 very good bargains That is correct, Ciccino, Best, Sven

This weeks progress. I did a little more experimenting with paints colors and washes. I also started installing windows, window shades, and curtains. Custom cutting each one to fit and gluing them in one at a time is time consuming But after seeing the side by side comparison of the ones with it to the ones with out i think the added detail is worth the effort. . View Attachment' View AttachmentVery nice work! Congratulations! The time was well invested..... Best, Sven

Just as a reminder - the lot is sold out at Harald Freudenreich. There are a few kits still sitting with Sascha Braun. E-Mail: bavariarts@yahoo.de Web-Page: zcustomizer.de/about%20us/index.htmlA few months ago I wrote: I just learned that there will be a new release of Harald Freudenreich's Boxcabs. Everything from Freundenreich Feinwerktechnik (also know as just... FR) is considered rare. Production is very limited on all items. U.S. roads are even more scarce. FR hasn't produced U.S. roads for many years. Unfortunately, FR does not keep a history of its releases on its website. fr-model.eshop.t-online.deI could pick up some old Dealer Stock here in Switzerland and Germany. For details look at pictures below. If you are interested in buying some of the cars please let me know. Best, Sven
