I have read a few scattered threads here about track ballasting, but I am wondering in anyone who has painted, weathered and ballasted Rokuhan track would be willing to give some very specific directions on how to do it? A video demonstration would be even better. I am looking for specific information, such as what paint you used to paint the rails, how you masked things, the technique for painting the rails, etc. I suspect some weathering is done using washes, but how do you protect the electric switches from getting liquid in them. Any help would be great. Thanks looking. John Cubbin's awesome blog "Raildig.com" has a couple of articles with detailed instructions. Check this photo out for a teaser: Here is the project page: www.raildig.com/raildig-build-projects/painting-kato-unitrack-rail/I am not sure you will find any more details than his blog. Sincerely, Frank Daniels Owner - z.scale.hobo

When I got my Santa Fe units they also listed a road number for the B units but are not printed on the unit itself. Stock photos for the Santa Fe F3 do not indicate road numbers on the B units: zscalehobo.com/azl/azl_62902.htmlLooking all over Google I don't see road numbers on the ATSF warbonnet B units.

Well after a long wait I see AZL finally released the Canadian National F3 A and B units. Nice looking machines but there is a very huge inaccuracy. Where is the lettering and numbering on the B Unit? Since they were never run in matched sets, each B unit had it's own number. I'm disappointed in AZL who boasts of making it's product as close to prototypical as possible, to forget or omit a detail as noticeable as this. Shame, shame! You received it already? That was fast. Or are you simply going by the release photograph? The official release statement said the B units were #9001 and #9004 ... I wonder if the release photograph was of a prototype unit instead of the finished product.

I hope you are using a new factory that doesn't produce crunchy and crispy chassis. Yes - new factory. Second that, I have 2 dead chassis just came apart. 1 circuit board tab ( ill take responsibility on that one, stupid digitrax board) and one fuel tank half. Can you guys get some spare frames on the second run, hate to toss an engine for 1 bad part. Yes, we will produce extra parts for the next run. I test ran one of the new GP38-2 locomotives at a train show a couple of weeks ago. It ran for 2 days with no problems. There will also be another run of GP30 at the new factory this winter. Was the issue of circuit board contacts to motor contacts addressed? I have lost a few first time AZL buyers to this issue in spite of coaching them through the quite simple rework or bringing the units back to me for rework. The first impression is hard to get back once it has been soured.

I really would like a couple of the AZL reefers but being on SS there are more important things to me than $50.00+ Z scale cars.Unfortunately there are a lot of younger models that feel the same way. AZL and MTL prices are definitely not helping the scale grow. There are at least 4 dealers offering these in the $40 range my pricing at $43.99. And while AZL cannot be mistaken for cheap pricing, they are definitely growing z scale in a big way with a variety of offerings. Their number of releases is mind boggling. MTL? There are 2-bay hoppers on my website as low as $16.75 brand new. Not sure how much lower the price point needs to be to become attractive. Are we looking for sub-$10 rolling stock?

I guess I will save everyone the trouble of clicking the facebook link above Sorry Frank I was holding out for the official one. Yeah, that hotspot (ceiling light at NTS?) in the Phase III unit gives the impression that the loco has a big gaping hole in the middle! Thanks to AZL (Rob A) for the better artwork!

Have a look at this please. Dirk sent me this very nice picture lining up the shrimpers and fishing boats in the harbor..... but what must i see? The lazy harbor workers from Helenensiel made it into our Chesapeake Bay !! I can`t believe it...... Looks like they are "hardly" working!

I'd like to know what the differences are with the various phases of the P42's and the Superliners. Could make up some longer coaches, second sleeper or lounge if enough visible differences. With some of the other recent diesels, I sense a set of high popularity cars, like a 10 car train. Sorry to do this to you, Jeff, but here is a description of the differences. From the NTS photo: www.facebook.com/119096151756790/photos/a.131926383807100.1073741828.119096151756790/167522230247515/?type=3&theaterThis shows the phases and corresponding AZL part numbers plus give a nice shot of the Superliner variation. To see this photo, please click the hyperlink from a desktop pc/mac and not from any MOBILE devices (unless, of course, you are a Facebook user). ;-)

AZL is pleased to announce our latest modern Z scale freight car: The Trinity TRINCool 64’ Reefer. AZL’s TRINCool 64’ Reefer will come with Metal Wheels, AutoLatch couplers, Extensive separately applied underside details, Etched Metal A-end platforms, as well as separately applied Refrigerator units and fuel tanks for the refrigerator units. Decorations will include UP’s American Refrigerator Transit (ARMN) service with both early and late style Carrier Refrigerator units, and CEFX which will come with a Thermo King style Refrigerator unit.
Thanks for your support! -Rob and Hans AZL I see the difference between the 2 different AC units. Is it possible to identify which road numbers have a given AC unit brand? I would like to have 2 different 4-packs having Carrier and Thermo King refrigeration units. Thanks, Mark Hi Mark: I am updating my product pages and came across your inquiry. The ARMN's (cars just released) have the Carrier ... Type 1 and Type 2; both are Carrier according to the release you quoted above. The CEFX will have the Thermo King. So, you would buy 904001 (Type 1 AC) and 904002 (Type 2 AC) to get two 4-packs of each AC type. Best Regards, Frank Daniels Owner - z.scale.hobo

I got lucky,I'm getting in on this deal thanks to Shamoo 737 asking me if I were interested in getting in on it. I was happy to get everybody involved in this order. Each is us can't take ten, but together, we can all take advantage of this deal. Glad you guys got together to make it happen. That's great community. If finding a group to buy these becomes a chore for others, z.scale.hobo is offering singles: SD70: zscalehobo.com/azl/azl_61020.htmlGP38: zscalehobo.com/azl/azl_62513.html

Is there any pictures of the super liners painted or pics of them individually ? Not yet. All we have so far are the two shots from the AZL forum. You will notice that all my images are the same one. That's all we have so far. zscalehobo.com/azl/azl_index.html#p42_surf

Speaking of Geeps, one of my GP38 has a little jerky motion, with a rythmic speed change. Looks like there would be a hard spot on one of its gearings. I ran the locomotive 30 minutes each way to break it in, but the problem remains. What do you guys recommand to solve this? Dom Your first communication should be with your authorized AZL dealer who sold you the item. If that doesn't help, then you contact AZL here: azlforum.com/thread/387/azl-customer-support
