Here is photo of an FEC 510 (GP38-2) I hope someday to see it in Z, but for now I can have someone professionally paint an Undecorated loco.

Hi Tommy, actually 431 is a GP 40-2. All of FEC's GP 38-2 are numbered 501 thru 510. Unfortunately, all of FEC's 38s are non dynamic brake engines.
That said I would love it if AZL released a non dynamic FEC GP38. Either this logo, the hurricane logo or the new computer style logo would work for me as I plan on building a FEC layout.

It's made from shortening the SD40 shell, and stretching the GP35 chassis.

My local hobby shop (TRF Trains And MNT hobbies) has both FEC 102, 105, 107 and a few CSX Gp38-2s, Here in Melbourne, Florida. FEC Is king! I ride my bike every once in a while to the nearby RR crossing, And back home at night I can hear trains horns!

I did some FEC years ago for a customer before AZL's GP-38-2 re-release. Based on GP35 with lengthen chassis and shell:

Gerd those are incredible!
I have seen some gp38 3d printed shells on shapeways that are supposed to fit the AZL chassis. Anyone have any experience with these shells?

Why should somebody swap the shell for a Shapeways shell? The result can never be better than the original one, evens it has a low level of detail.

The result can never be better than the original one, evens it has a low level of detail. you would swap the shell if you wanted a non dynamic brake GP38. and I think the detail could be even better than the original. It is a better option for me because I don't have the modeling skills to combine different shells, chassis, etc. With a shapeways shell just add handrails and a few details and your done. I plan on ordering a couple of z buildings off shapeways to see the level of detail that is being produced before I dive in on a shell. Keith

I believe it's "Miniatures by Erik" that I saw the Dynamic Brake blank that he sells miniaturesbyeric.com to remove the DB housing. Then get the Micron Art 1201 detail kit for the GP38's. Make a worthy non-DB GP38-2 in no time!
