Thanks a lot for the explanation ... Raymond First the good news... we are not sold out of the UPs. We have more in reserve and will be releasing them after QC. Also, we still have CSX in stock! In checking around, the NS Reading and the NS Savannah & Atlanta are also still available. So there are Aces out there! It does look like the West Coast roads are going to go faster than the East Coast roads. So I need some of you West coast guys to move to the other side of the room! Note the two photos below. The safety, or isolated cab has a line on the front. This is the separator to keep the cab isolated. There are other differences with the panels. The safety cab is shown on bottom. So why the difference? For 4 years the locos were built without the isolated cab. Here is the answer from Wikipedia: The SD70ACe uses the cab design of late-model SD90MAC-H units, which uses rectangular window glass and is externally different from the two cab variations used on earlier SD70M and SD70MAC units. In 2008, EMD standardized the isolated cab on subsequent SD70ACe's after non-isolated cab units were restricted from leading on BNSF Railway due to excessive cab vibration. So for prototype sake, run the isolated cab unit up front! Rob

Come on over to the homes of the "dark future" and the "dark thoroughbreds." The rails are warm and I promise the horses won't eat your pumpkins. Dave, we can buy all the hot selling west roads, and sell them back to them at a premium.

I would but the last thing I need on my layout is more derailments! Still waiting on the KCS units.... Kinda need a timeline on those, since I have to make room for them in my tiny budget....

The tooling has already been made... just order more! Mark That is possible, but please remember that even with the tooling complete, a production run takes at least one year from start to finish.

Another nice looking ACe! Thanks for sharing. My pleasure. Both the Reading and the S&A are nice runners, right from the start.

All is right in my world again thanks to Jeff at ZGauge.com. I received my SD70ACe's and started the break in process. They look great and run smooth. The lights are too dim, but I will address that with decoder install. Looks like I am going to need a bigger coffee table!

Tim, I suggest the TCS over the Digitrax. The TCS is brighter.

This is a decoder feature that looks to be very nice for the ACes:
Ditch Lights: control alternating ditch lights with realistic pulsing.

The BNSFs, I presume? Great! Yes, I have 2 TCS decoders I have been saving for a ditch light application. But BNSF doesn't use alt flashing on most engines so I will just make due with separate lighting. Now I hope my soldering skills are up to par in this small scale.

I saw a YouTube with the proto NS Heritage Erie, slowly making it's way, ditches alternating, so I'm planning on doing it to the AZL when it's released. Really cool.

This is a decoder feature that looks to be very nice for the ACes: Ditch Lights: control alternating ditch lights with realistic pulsing. Unless I am mistaken, the ditch lights are achieved via light pipes, no? If so, the decoder cannot independently flash the ditch lights unless you modify the locomotive to use two additional LEDs for the ditch light illumination. As was mentioned, UP and BNSF and some others don't do alternating flashing ditch lights.
