Got my CSX unit today and I really like it. The detail is amazing. Unfortunately, the lights are a bit dim compared to my SD70 and GP38, otherwise it's a great engine.
Any chance for a black DRG&W unit in the future?

Wait, what? Ditch lights from the factory? Haven't even cracked my Reading open yet....... Yes, sir, they are there. They're not extremely bright but I just turn down the room lights when I'm love'n my locos. Maybe put on some Tom Jones or Dean Martin.

Barry's sweet, dulcet tones vibrate all the ballast off my tracks.

I am seeing not only the "limited" Heritage locos getting sold out but the regulars in BNSF and UP are getting sold out! That is a real shame! there are a lot of modelers out there that [are not] collectors of limited editions and probably cannot afford to buy every new release within hours of AZL making them available! There seems to be all road names and numbers still available of the last release of the SD70, SD70M, SD70I, SD75M so what is going on here? How could you miss the mark this BADLY? I am seriously disappointed in AZLs latest business decision and hope that they will some how fix this! The tooling has already been made... just order more!

I can't speak for AZL, of course, but I wouldn't usually buy UP, since I run CSX and NS. However, I purchased the UP non-heritage ACe just because I like the scheme and love the other two ACes I'm running. It looks like I'm not the only one increasing the usual demand. The Z scale market is so small, it probably doesn't take too many others such as me to throw off the usual sale projections.

Our first SD70ACe run consist of 2700 locomotives. Not small by any Z standard. When all locomotives are released we can start planning the second run. We also have to look at the great perspective. Within one year we are releasing the P42 and the ES44AC. We are also releasing reruns of the following: GP30, GP38-2 and RDC-1. We also have F7s that we have not released yet. So, we would probably continue to miss the mark, sometimes we overproduce and sometimes we are a little short.

First the good news... we are not sold out of the UPs. We have more in reserve and will be releasing them after QC. Also, we still have CSX in stock! In checking around, the NS Reading and the NS Savannah & Atlanta are also still available. So there are Aces out there! It does look like the West Coast roads are going to go faster than the East Coast roads. So I need some of you West coast guys to move to the other side of the room! Note the two photos below. The safety, or isolated cab has a line on the front. This is the separator to keep the cab isolated. There are other differences with the panels. The safety cab is shown on bottom. So why the difference? For 4 years the locos were built without the isolated cab. Here is the answer from Wikipedia: The SD70ACe uses the cab design of late-model SD90MAC-H units, which uses rectangular window glass and is externally different from the two cab variations used on earlier SD70M and SD70MAC units. In 2008, EMD standardized the isolated cab on subsequent SD70ACe's after non-isolated cab units were restricted from leading on BNSF Railway due to excessive cab vibration. So for prototype sake, run the isolated cab unit up front! Rob

Come on over to the homes of the "dark future" and the "dark thoroughbreds." The rails are warm and I promise the horses won't eat your pumpkins.
