I do not own one of these locomotives yet. But the AZL dummy couplers for the snap in pilots on my GP7's and 30's sometimes swivel stiff out of the package. So if you gently remove the coupler from the pilot itself and use a diamond file (rounded) and gently enlarge the hole of the coupler that attaches it to that post on the pilot you can improve swivel dramatically and negotiate s curves on 195 with them easily once snapped back in place. Go slow, do not take too much off. If this pilot has them attached the way it might work. Joe, The E8 dummies don't swivel like the GP7/GP30, they are just plugged in with some play. I modified my E8s with a complete, functional coupler, just cut out the pilot a bit, sufficient space between pilot and trucks

Thanks Gerd, I wondered. If someone has never done those mods it can be daunting. However if there is enough space between pilot and truck it should not be too difficult.

I recently purchased a Canadian Pacific E8 it looks great and runs good. I am disappointed in a couple of things however:
1) The lack of a B-unit for this version.
2) Having to remove the pilot to double-head these engines. Perhaps AZL could consider an after market slotted pilot for these engines for those of us that don't mind this? Just a thought.
I hope a CN version will also be done.
