i have started seeing half height 20 foot containers on our trains up here. which i also thought might be good for ore skips in intermodal cars but i can do better about 4 to 6 trash trains a day by this cam along with other interesting stuff like ore gondolas with fiberglass tops on them and other unique things National Frozen foods where flash freezing was invented in directly on the other side of the tracks

Has it definately been decided whether or not to produce these ? It was suggested they would be available as a 3-car set AHHHH Good question - the .STL files are done - thinking of it as an AZL Labs product that you can just load on the 89’ flats. I’m traveling a quite a bit in Feb and March, so this would be a Spring product if folks want them. I’l try to post some pictures this week.

Trouble is, the 89’ flats only seem to come with military loads, in which I have no interest, and at high price. If not as sets with flatcars and containers, any possibility they could be made available separately, so modellers could make up their own trains ?

Hello Rob, Sorry, but trash trains will never be on my radar or wish list. Suggestion: With all the SD40-2's being released, make the Thrall HI SIDE coal Gondolas (predominate in the 70's / early 80's). Tons of roads had these. Thx. Attachments:

Suggestion: With all the SD40-2's being released, make the Thrall HI SIDE coal Gondolas (predominate in the 70's / early 80's). Tons of roads had these. Should probably take this to another thread, but... While I would probably purchase some of the Thrall cars, they really do lend themselves to being 3D printed. I know that iterations of this car--or the other similar "boxy, thick rib" coal gon designs--have shown up on Shapeways and there is likely at least one of them still available. Even the latest N versions still have molded on ladders/grabs, so doing that in Z would mean a car that basically just needs some trucks/couplers added. (and decoration, of course) I only say this since I would rather see AZL work on something a little more complex since they have a knack for doing great work in that realm. But hey, it is a common car that people would not just buy one or four of...notwithstanding their eventual use as scrap gons, most folks would buy at least 24-36 of these to build a good sized unit coal train. My ultimate goal would be 36-40 car trains and I might buy two trains (loaded and empty) worth of FPPX and LCRX cars. They were ran together on the Fayette Power trains between Wyoming and South Central Texas. These Thrall cars did end up in scrap service as they got replaced by aluminum cars in coal service. So ironically, these cars became "trash trains" of sorts.

Hi Folks, An idea from the Brian Keyser has come to life: 20' Trash Containers to make a proper Trash Train. The prototype is done. They are actually two 40' bases with two 20' containers on each base, so they can fit in our 40' hole spacing. They should work in any of our intermodal cars, but look best and most prototypical on our 89' intermodal flat cars. A prototype picture is attached below. This was done in grey, but production will be a darker solid color. This has NOT gone into "cottage production" - I'm looking to determine community interest before investing any more time in this project. These would be sold in 3 packs of 3 loaded 89' flatcars with trash containers. They would be shot in a pre-colored material - possibly dark blue or green. Most of these containers have minimal markings, so they will be unpainted and undecorated. Any replies with an indication of interest would be welcome! -AZL Labs Management View AttachmentAre the 89' flat cars available without any loads? I want the cars but don't want/need the loads. All I've seen available are the cars with military loads. I make my own military loads.
