I think the first one should be NH. It would give Alberich something new to play with and allow people to start saving pennies for the good stuff. Alberich already pre-ordered NH and NYC (PA-1's only, no B's) at Case Hobbies ... PS : Do You insinuate that NH is no good stuff ? Or is the good stuff made of "ALL" PA-1's ?
The “good stuff” is whichever PA you’ve been waiting for. Good choice for the black-white-orange paint, it’s a classic. Also if you haven’t seen it, MTL will be doing a boxcar in that scheme: www.micro-trains.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=75_77&product_id=4347

We will sort this out 3 different versions of SP, D&RGW and NH locomotives so it is safe to assume that one of the paint schemes of these roadnames will be out the door fast. Daylight Hans...Daylight

Come on Märklin, at least put the pilot on the PA-1 in the photos... I'm guessing Marklin thinks the awkward photos are less of an issue compared to a possible onslaught of questions that they would have to address if there was a wonderfully prototypical knuckle coupler on the pilot. For example, people would be asking if they are planning to transition away from their own couplers.

For example, people would be asking if they are planning to transition away from their own couplers. The E8/E9 collaboration had a situation sorta like what you describe. They had coupler-less pilots in initial images. But what came out was a pilot with a knuckle coupler (non-functional). I'm thinking the PA1 was a boo boo or some sort of deadline for print/publication and item not in hand situation ... and hope they will update images when they have pilots in hand. If not - I've got my camera ready. The release is slated for Q3 2022

Alberich, You're right. Not being an East Coast modeler, I didn't realize that the car was released in July 1989, just different road numbers. Back in 2017. MTL released a statement that seemed to say they don't rerun a product, so I thought this was new. It doesn't look like that today. RobA: Simple solution, pop all the model numbers into a random generator: www.random.org/and use the resulting list. You're going to release all the PA in the next few months, so does it really matter which is first? The only suggestion I have is to varying the releases: east/west road, old/new, freight/passenger.

The only "double features" (i.e. same car from same company with same colour scheme but different road numbers) that I have are 2 boxcar pairs I bought when I began (for example the "Susie") and the 33' Rib side hoppers to build "homogeneous" gravel transports which deserve the corresponding tracks. And the MTL NYC caboose as a spare, because it is no longer available (my only other NYC caboose being the red Märklin, converted with the Zelatory part).

Yes, that's the image that had Zetties up in arms about why Marklin ran a photo shoot without a pilot installed. There are 2 more images presently available, posted here without a chunky pdf download: zscalehobo.com/marklin/88619.htmlI will update the images once the "with pilot" images become available as these are not presentable as is. Sales are still brisk.

It is unfortunate that this is the first photo everyone is seeing of this model. I imagine it is going to be an absolutely stunning model but that pic is not good and won't do AZL any favors.

We are not that worried about the M PA1 photo. Anyway M will use the pilot option.
But the good news are that the PAs arrived in the US this week. First releases should be mid month February

We are not that worried about the M PA1 photo. Anyway M will use the pilot option. People seem to be missing the fact that this a passenger locomotive and sooner or later Märklin will have to produce some Armour Yellow passenger cars. A bit of useless trivia had they modeled SP instead: SP ordered all their PA2s without a pilot and installed a homemade pilot and plow. So for a short time the image would be prototypically correct ...more or less.
