Hey now!!! This is what happens when you have an overly sensitive iPhone microphone 2 inches from an AZL F7! Normal distance... it is quite as all get out!
LOL!

These ATSF F7 are a really good representation of the early stock units, however they are not part of my modeling interests. I'll be waiting for the WP release. This is what I'm interested in modelling. I'd love a "pumpkin" F7, but not expecting it. It can be made from the Zephyr paint scheme fairly easily. But I do have a couple of questions in preparation for the WPs: As mentioned earlier, Will the existing drawbars work on the nose end of the locomotive? Are there, or will there be snow plows available? Will the "final four" road numbers be available? Will you be doing any phase 2 F7s? The difference in the intake grills is quite visible. I can do this with the MTL units, but 4 powered units sound like a cement mixer. Mark

Hi, Just put the F7A releases on a separate thread. Will do a drawbar nose to rear check. Some of the locomotives have snowplows like Alaska. Two versions of WP available. No Phase 2 (or late phase). That will require more tooling and not high priority now.

Hans thanks. I realize that the door and window shape differences, grills and roofline really make the late phase a new shell. However it seems that a number of early units were rebuilt with late features, particularly the intake grills. All I'm really concerned about for the WP units is that they have a single headlight.

The Website shows what looks like a F3 'chicken wire' grill (you can see the sheet metal patterns) and, they are nowhere near shiny, like your F3's. Can't tell from the Ztrack low-rez video either. Its definitely an F7, phase 1, with the 36" Dynamic Brake. they 37-41 roads where delivered in 1949. More info: old.atsfrr.org/resources/funits/f7-pas.htm

Unpacking the set, looks *really* nice!
I was comparing the cars on the back (nice to have as the WP did not). I noticed that the first 2 Sleepers did not look the same as the box and figured it out as the vestibules where on the back ends of the cars (just flipped them around). The Dome car also was in 'backwards'(short end not facing the Diner) but in this case, I cannot turn it around as the white bow-old relief for the dome isn't long enough. Easy to flip it when putting on the track.
The Add-ON sets had all 4 cars with the vestibules on the right so flipped them too to be the same left-running orientation as the main set box. I also shifted the order, swapping the 2nd and 3rd sleepers so that they can easily placed between the same when setting up. I also put my Z-Bend Track bolster pin ID on those cars, to easily reclaim them out of the long train, in case of any issue.

I saw this video yesterday while researching what rolling stock to use with my F3 ATSF engines. Quite interesting

Wonderful scinery! Please show us more! Most modellers are too shy. I learn from every picture in the forum.
