Probably a stupid question but do we send them in the original jewel case nicely packed in a box or will wrapping the chassis in bubble pack and throwing it in a padded envelope suffice?
I've looked on AZL Direct and did not see info related to return shipping other than address and do not send the shell.

Mark what ever is easier for you. I do recommend sending them back insured just in case.

(obviously the extra $45 international shipping charge stings a bit and might make it more of a decision point...totally get that.)
Indeed: the shipping charge stings a lot! Has always been an isseu with AZL and affiliate sites. Have let go several deals because of it. Usual shipping charges from the USA to Europe are around 15 to 25 dollars at most......

So, are these new chassis going to be available for sale outright at some point?

PK: All ‘Z’ scale products are compatible with Märklin (and Rokuhan and Micro-Trains Line [MTL]).
The only incompatibility is the couplers on Märklin, which looks like a *big* hook (claw) which will not couple to AZL, MTL or Rokuhan products. But they can all run on any manufactures track.
The power supplies are universal.

Factor in your exchange rate as well. It's stings a lot more in CDN dollars.

I cannot get to my PO box in the states because of border closures and I definately don’t want to pay that extra 45$ shipping plus the extra shipping to get the frame to you guys, can you put a black and black a side for me so I can get it ordered once the situation gets back to normal and can get it sent to my US PO box?

Have you tried to forward the mail from the POB? I use the service frequently without problems and if the replacement is shipped via priority mail it should forward. I just never tried to forward internationally myself, but a Brazilian friend of mine does.

I ship back the old ones first before the replacements are shipped to me? Do I include a copy of the order with the chassis? Instructions are a little vague... Thanks, Mark

Mark got the order. Yes, we will need the returned chassis first. Once these arrive, we will send out the new ones. No need to include a copy of the order. We have it entered here and are tracking when the chassis arrive and the replacements are sent out.

Rob,
I received my NEW GP38-2 chassis this week for my ATSF unit. Runs and Works great!
Keep us posted when you'll swap out the MoPac GP38-2's. Mine could DEFINATELY use an upgrade.
Thank You,
MB

Looks nice but for only $15 dollars more I have a complete new locomotive.... Yes, a complete new one that might be days (minutes?) away from crumbling in your hands. And if you're talking the new post-2016 "non-crumbling" version, then you don't need to (and can't) upgrade anyway. And, besides the shell, it *is* a complete new locomotive. (at least that is what they are advertising.) That's sort of the rub though, right? That's kinda important for those of us with ATSF locos, or UP, et al. Otherwise you're color matching paint, etc. Can it be done, sure. Is it worth $40 to avoid that headache...yep, to me it is. (obviously the extra $45 international shipping charge stings a bit and might make it more of a decision point...totally get that.) So: $100 already spent for old run with metal frame that may or may not fail + $40 (or $85) for new chassis + $15 for pilot that comes with newer runs + $35 for extra truck that comes with newer runs = $190 spent to end up with 1 upgraded GP38-2 (or $235 if not domestic) Vs. $100 for old run + $100 for new run = $200 spent for one old run GP38-2 and one new run GP38-2 WTF?
