We are working on a small GP38-2 run. The run will also consist of replacement chassis that will be offered at very favourable prices. More on this later. As many have guessed this run was in the making. Märklins announcement of a ATSF GP-38-2 was the tip off. The AZL run will include these 6 paint schemes: UP - Delivery paint scheme SP - Bloody Nose new roadnumbers Alaska Railroad BNSF - Heritage I MKT Frisco Delivery should be May/June fingers crossed!

Oh, wow!! Thank you guys, those are nice!! Yes. Very nice. And good selection of roads and color schemes. So we'll have to get the Marklin one if you want Santa Fe? Or is that also coming? You mentioned that the Santa Fe Marklin will have upgraded hand rails and new road numbers. Will that be the same for the AZL releases?

Wow, GREAT schemes....REALLY bad timing. Was going to be a monumental hurdle to even try and buy the remaining Maxi-I's I wanted. Now I will do everything I can to get the BNSF H-1 scheme that I've been asking for but that will be it. Would love to have a pair of those MKT locos, and one SP. Wouldn't mind a pair of Frisco either.
I hope the replacement chassis will be available painted, I would buy a UP gray one to replace one I have. It would be great to have new pilots too....one can dream.

Especially the Alaska RR. Since we have nothing to pull the coming Alaska lightweights. MTL only had the F7AB set and that is long sold out. Same with the Marklin ABA set. UNLESS - AZL will release an Alaska E9 or F3AB set. hint hint

Hans...what will the price be on these? Comparable to the first GP38-2s from many years ago?

AZL will not make the ATSF version this time around. The handrails are modified and more prototypical. The pricing will be in the same neighbourhood as earlier releases. When we have the shipment and the final invoice we will release the pricing information. AZL GP38-2 roadnumbers:
UP: 2001 & 2024 SP: 4008 & 4019 BNSF: 2087 & 2100 Frisco: 402 & 413 Alaska: 2001 & 2002 MKT: 304 & 311
Stay Healthy!

Where did those SP numbers come from?

Both low headlight GP38-2's. I know of only two that had the high headlight like the AZL version: BNSF 2094 (later modified to low headlight). BNSF 2099 (Silver ATSF style silver trucks, fuel tank and under-frame). First Thank you for offering more GP38-2's. I have a lot of these and except for a batch with the crumbling frames most are still racking up miles on my layout. Now for the dig: If you guys are going to use the same old tooling to represent every road number, please at least check pics of the prototype. Finally thanks for the Frisco unit, it is close to prototype. Next up, how about some BN white face versions?

Where did those SP numbers come from? Unless I'm missing an SP renumber, all the SP owned GP38-2s were in the 4800 series. The 4008 was either an AC-1 or a renumber of an RS32. 4019 an AC-2. The original AZL release (151-170) were units leased from CSX.

Here is why I would love to have a pair of the Frisco Geeps... donsdepot.donrossgroup.net/dr0204/cw2001.jpgdonsdepot.donrossgroup.net/dr0204/cw2002.jpgShould be an easy reletter to get a pretty good representation. The Colorado & Wyoming has always been a favorite of mine, and I could easily do a very neat micro-layout or set of modules built around these two locos and how the railroad interacted with ATSF/BNSF at the foot of Raton Pass.
