Good afternoon,
I have been wanting to acquire a Micro-Trains GP9 in the Central Vermont paint scheme. I have managed to locate a new one but my question is how do these locos run? What are any good or bad characteristics you have seen with them in the past. I don't know when the MTL GP9s were released but I would guess close to 20 years ago. Also, what kind of ongoing maintenance will this loco require? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, that sucks. I guess I will have to search for a MTL GP9 chassis. Does anyone have a really nice running chassis to sell or trade? I have a ton of Z scale stuff.

I have an AZL GP7 loco in Burlington Route and I have a Micro-Trains Central Vermont GP9 skin (shell) I would like to put on it. Will this fit without any modifications. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The Alaska stuff got posted to MBKlein late this afternoon. It went fast but I don't know how many of each car there were. I was able to get another set of the blue domes and one more Geep and then poof, they are gone.
How many of you got a whole train (both locos and at least one of each car)?

I haven't been paying attention to the is release but tonight decided to order some Alaska stuff. What dealers, other than ZSM, USZScale and ZGauge are even carrying the Alaska stuff? I looked at the AZL dealer list and no one else listed has or had it.

This guy has been around for a few years. About three years ago, I was at a train show in St Albans VT selling some stuff and he was there with his kits. We swapped some rolling stock for kit. I would consider them to be good beginner kits.

Hans...what will the price be on these? Comparable to the first GP38-2s from many years ago?

I am sad. I dealt with Terry many times and he was a great person. RIP Terry.

Good evening,
I am selling for a friend a Marklin 88075 Commodore Vanderbilt loco & tender set. She said the last time it was run, it ran nicely. Comes in the original box. If you have any interest, please send me a PM. Thanks.

Good evening....I bought a collection a couple of years ago and in is a BAZ Models structure kit. Anyway, I am selling off all of Z-scale and wanted to list this on eBay. I don't see any of the BAZ kits either listed or completed so I don't know the value. Can anyone help me a value? Thanks in advance. Attachments:

Hi Jim,
Here is my opinion. Get yourself a 2' x 3' cork bulletin board from Walmart. Buy a small loop of Rokuhan track using 195mm curves. Get a Rokuhan RC02 controller (awesome little controller and can run on 8 AA batteries or there is an AC adapter available). For locos in your roads, you are going to be limited. There is a GP30 in BN or BNSF. There is also a BNSF SD70M. That is about it. Buy a couple of pieces of AZL rolling stock and a couple of pieces of MTL rolling stock. Then, take some time and play with the trains. Get used to the size, placing them on the track, coupling and uncoupling, etc. You will find that Z scale is much more susceptible to dirty track. You will definitely want equip your rolling stock with metal wheels as it helps keep the track cleaner. Running Z is different running N; I can attest to that. Z is more finicky. The cute factor will hook you and that is why you should really take the time to use and run them for a while before making a large investment in it.
Personally, I am getting out of Z scale. Don't get me wrong; I really enjoyed my time in Z but the availability of things I really want just isn't there. N-scale (at least for me) runs better and is easier to see. I can get things like a Shay and other locos not likely to ever be produced in Z scale.
Carefully look at what is available in your roads. Many things have been made in your roads but are long gone. Rarely does used AZl stuff come up for sale. There is eBay and ztrackresale. Lastly, when shopping, you will see that Z scale is more expensive that N scale.
Not trying to discourage you, just being realistic.
