Tell me about RI! Doing the research for a RI E7 now. At least 4 variations. Will pick a sensible one for the 2nd E7 run

Alaska F7A Sep 7 2020.PDF (695.97 KB) As you can see on the Alaska F7, we included the 48" Dynamic Brake and removed the side skirts and the rear overhang. The rear overhang was not offered for late phase F7s or F9s.

The enclosed drawbar will not work on the nose section of the F7s. Only rear section on F7As and both ends on the F7Bs. If the is critical to someones operation, we plan on offering longer drawbars soon

We do not usually discuss our delivery schedule since revisions are done all the time. And at the moment we really have to shuffle products around. And there are unannounced products in the schedule as well.

Here is a .pdf of the front artwork. For your Winter guys, Alaska is the only F7A with a snowplow, but CN, Alaska, MILW, Wabash and NP have Winterisation hatches. F7A artwork Front.pdf (441.07 KB)

F7A phase I details. There is no chicken wire, that was the mid phase F3A. Correct horizontal grille (In mid 1950 EMD started to use the vertical grille called Farr-Air). Dynamic brake diameter 36". Later versions had 48". Full skirt. Now since apparance were often changed an early F7A could be updated with Farr-Air grilles, the 48" Dynamic Brake and have skirts partially our fully removed. And most railroads were not especially consistent having units in uniform configurations. On this and the E7 runs we have consulted our book libraries, internet and historical societies. Even with all the information available, sometimes a best guess is called for. Artwork is usually easier than colors, and B&W photos are of limited help. Some railroads had strict paint guidelines like SP while others were all over the board like ATSF. Makes our lives a lot of fun! So we always try to be as accurate as possible with the tooling we have at hand. And that goes with selecting paint schemes and road numbers too. How often have we not heard: "You forgot my favourite roadnumber!"

To accommodate buyers we will be happy to match A-B-B, A-B-B or A-B-B-A sets. Just let us our dealers know when making the order

We would probably do 38, 39 and 40 sets. Make more sense. (as for the Heritage units they will not be identical. UP upgraded both the Cab antenna arrays and tweaked the paint scheme a couple of years ago. The locomotives will represent how they look today)

Hi, Just put the F7A releases on a separate thread. Will do a drawbar nose to rear check. Some of the locomotives have snowplows like Alaska. Two versions of WP available. No Phase 2 (or late phase). That will require more tooling and not high priority now.

We plan on offering drawbars with separate lengths. And unfortunately we cannot guarantee a matching set over time. We will produce more A units so hopefully a future match will not be a problem. But do not worry about the B units since they are not numbered. Simply because the real numbers were so small that it would not make sense to pad print it on the 1:220 ATSF F7Bs.
