Besides the price, what's the difference between the "GP series" black truck 62000-903 and the "GP7/30/38" black truck 2996-PIAZL-62599-1 sold on the AZL direct website?

A lot more numbers> and . . . a picture.

So what's the difference? Since Rob(A) has implied that RDC-1 V1 trucks and V2 trucks may be incompatible, I'm reluctant to purchase any spare parts, not knowing which locomotives they'll actually work with. Mark

Mark, Just a speculation but maybe the lower priced, non-pictured trucks don't have a coupler... When you look at the latest release of the GP38-2, they are advertised as having optional trucks without couplers but they are not very clear about whether they are included or if you have to purchase separately. If the new GP38-2s are still priced under $100 and they do include a spare truck, that would be a real bargain!

Mark,
I can generate a lot of speculation. From the part numbers I could deduce that the $35 truck is for the GP38s and the $30 truck for GP7. But is that the 62000 series GP7 or the 6200? Are trucks for the GP38s compatible between the 2 manufacturers? Or it could be that the $30 unit is a closeout price and the $35 units are the future of AZL GP trucks.
The reality is that only AZL knows the answers. I don't really care about the details and frankly the photos on the website don't tell me anything. But not knowing which to choose simply means that I won't buy either and I'll just fiddle with what I have.

Might want to send a message to AZL as this is a good question. Don't forget this post at this link: While we welcome all types of posts to the AZL Forum, we typically do not check these pages for customer support issues. If you are having problems with one of your AZL products (locomotives, cars, or anything else) instead of posting on these forums, please reach out to us using the "Contact AZL" section of our main web site. You can find the page at www.americanzline.com/contact-azl/ that page sends emails to about a half dozen people so we can respond quickly to your issue. If you prefer to contact us via email, just send a note to Rob Kluz (ztrack@aol.com) and he will get back to you ASAP.

Frankly (pardon the pun) I don't think AZL can give an answer until someone has the time to research the part numbers and/or replaces the trucks in a loco and tries them. I'm asking in the public forum in hopes that someone has already purchased one or the other and has had a satisfactory install or that some dealer has had a complaint about them.
Actually regardless Rob(A)'s support post, I find that they are really good at responding here to support questions of general interest.

Frankly (pardon the pun) Mark Your pun was off the mark (pun intended, too!) Hmm. I saw a bunch of question marks above and thought you were getting frustrated - I wondered if you had sent a note already so decided to post the link to the contact info. I was thinking it was a clerical error on spare part labeling and the items are one in the same. I guess we will have to hold out for someone who knows.

Sorry guys. I am late to game on this one. The $30.00 trucks were from the first run of GP38-2s. The other trucks are from the later runs. I have tested and found all will work together. The only difference may be the placement of the traction tires. I frankly recommend replacing the trucks in pairs to ensure a good match, both for operations, and color of the truck frames as colors can vary slightly.
