How about this? MTL's model will never come back and the GP35 was one of the most popular ever. Since you guys have done all the work with the modular chassis it's more or less a matter of the shell.

Wow, that subject appears to be really interesting to everyone. Hey admins, if you read this (chances are low, because no reaction from you guys either) you can delete this post.

MTL's model will never come back I am wondering what is the source for comments like this? How do you know MTL will NEVER release it again? Thanks for any insight you may have on the topic as I have not heard anything like this from Micro-Trains. I do think it would be a good release... I'd like to see a steady production run of GP-35's and I agree that MTL's was a good seller. Don't delete this post, you aren't getting much traffic as people are not reading this blog at all hours of the night. You posted at 2AM my time, so I am just getting to this at 8:50AM. :-)

Pure speculation on the fact with MTL's Sandakan disaster 3 years ago (or even longer?) and tooling locked up and not pulling something off in that time frame warrants for me to say never. I'm addition to it : with all AZL offerings with prototypical width locos the " fat " MTL locos are something from yesterday.... Unfortunately

OK, I'm reassured. Because although too wide, these MTL roadswitchers are really good engines, that very well do the pair with AZL's. And I couldn't imagine a manufacturer, whichever it is, turning backwards after having improved. Dom

I concur with Gerd's speculations. Example? The Z-scale switcher that turned into vaporware.

The GP35 are easy to find. Its not like we are paying top Dollar for them. I rather get another loco instead.

I may not find you one from MTL, but I can have one repainted at your dime of course.

Bob Keep a eye on eBay. The Chessie dose pop up there every once in a while. The B&O is more common and can be had for a reasonable price. David

I must admit that AZL does not have any immediate plans for a GP35. As mentioned in this thread and I fully agree, Z scale is better off with a new locomotive that has not been offered before. Sincerely, Hans

F units are different. They dominated their time and the F3s will compliment other AZL products (present and future). If we were going to make another GP, it would be a GP20 or more likely a GP40 (not a GP35). Sincerely, Hans
