Rob, I'd be interested in either the "Daylight" or "Golden State" colors. I'm not certain how "fantasy" your set would be. I recall images of HW cars in both paint schemes and I believe I've already posted a link to a HW steam generator car in "Daylight." Of course you're going to need some sort of "fantasy" identifiers for the cars. How about "Golden Plate" for a dining car or 9950 (California Admission Day) for a lounge?

Nope to the SP fantasy Heavyweights. Harriman round roofs, OK. But I would rather like to see some more modern rib sides, easpecially as you phase into the new diesels. (compliments the RDC's too )

It does seem to go against model rail doctrine for many, but I think they're a lot of fun and look great. A favorite of mine are some Athearn F59PHIs. Definitely fantasy, definitely fun! John Raildig.com

I'm all for fantasy paints. InterMountain does a bunch of them in another scale. I have a few Z-scale fantasy paints myself.

After my last post, I did a bit of research and Daylight heavyweights aren't so much a fantasy. At this point, I've found references to about a dozen Daylight heavyweights. I've only been able to confirm baggage/RPOs and a steam generator car. But I believe there are also 3 palor cars and 3 12-1 sleepers. Additionally, I have a number of images of steam powered (GS serie) trains with heavyweight roof lines but not detailed enough to verify the car.
That said, I agree with everything else Jeff suggested.

Mark,
If you find more info on the parlors and 12-1, please post here!
Jeff,
I agree with you, but today I'm working with paint. Tomorrow I work on the plastic projects!
Best, -Rob

Rob, Since you're only working on paint today, here's a link to some of the unconfirmed info: webpages.charter.net/altalair/sp_daylight.htmlAs I dig the rest out of my computer I'll add to the post. Mark Haven't be able to find the sleeper references, so let me give you what I remember. I suspect you have your reference materials better organized than mine. The three cars were mechanically reworked in Sacramento (generators and air conditioning as I recall) and painted in Daylight colors in 1946 & 1947. Hope this helps. Mark

I am not to happy about fantasy paint schemes myself. Not saying that we will not do those, but the eat up our precious time. I rather then be doing some odd SPs like the SD45 (SD44R) Daylight 7399. But I have to say the F59PHI is a tempting subject. Best, Hans

Hans, In general, I agree with you about "fantasy" or commemorative rolling stock. In certain cases, like "Daylight" heavyweights, I look at them more as being "possible" or "probable." Likewise, I would support "City of San Francisco" heavyweights in Armour Yellow, because I know that after their derailment in NV, they quickly created some temporary heavyweight replacements, even if I don't know the specifics. That said, I have no interest in a Pacific Pennsylvania Christmas Train.
Since today isn't a paint day for Rob(a), I'd support a heavyweight combine and a USRA decapod.

Guys,
Thanks for the feedback.
I've made some modifications to our plans as a result: 1) Dropped one of the less popular names (remaining anonymous to protect the innocent) 2) Added C&O Tri-Color (Blue/Grey/Yellow) 3) Expanded Southern Pacific to include 3 paint schemes: Pullman Green, Two Tone Grey and Daylight. 4) Increased quantities of some road names based on feedback.
Your input makes a difference! -Rob(A) AZL

Rob: I'm sure by now you're getting quite sick of me harping on this subject and probably everyone else here is as well, and I do apologise for being a nuisance about this, but like everyone else, I'm hoping to see additional passenger cars to go along with the CN black/white noodle baggage car. I am still doing research on possible repaints from the old green/blacks but I did discover something about the 36 seat diner. Apparently some of these were repainted in the new colours during the changeover however not many of them. Some where scrapped, some were sold to private interests or museums or other railways, and some were converted to work and MOW cars or became re-configured diners. The point is, they did exist. I also found out that a few of these repaints had a few seats/tables removed to make way for self serve buffets. These were continued on when VIA took over passenger service from both CN and CP. I haven't been able to find any pics of these in that link, but there were a couple of the 30 seat diner. I wonder if they are the same car? Anyway, that's all I have found out so far. The quest continues.

I mostly want CB&Q Burlington Passengers in Pullman Green. I will also buy the Southern Pacific in pullman green. Also any with PULLMAN written on it.
Can wait for Observation and mail car.
