Hello ...
I found an used MTL GP9 which I could buy. What's about the running quality, especially are all wheels equipped with wipers ?
Thank for any answer ...

Thanks ... And about the wipers : are theses locos powered through all wheels, or only some of them ?

The units have wipers for all wheels. I have about a dozen and I have to agree they are good, reliable runners. They are easy to maintain, although MTL has run out of some of the spare parts.
They look good, although the hoods are wider than the prototype.
MTL spec's the units for 9VDC, but MTL people admit that 10VDC is ok. They also say no pulse power. People have been ignoring this with DCC for years without problems.

Unfortunately I saw that the traction tires are in a bad condition ; are spare parts still available, and will the locos pull 8 cars upwards on a slope of 1.6% (on the layout I am building) ?

I don't recall traction tires on the MTL unit and I don't know which parts are still available. The loco doesn't have problems pulling 8-10 MTL freight cars. If you purchase the engine and find it doesn't come with the instructions, let me know and I'll forward a scan to you.

I have to agree with Mark . I have a dozen or more MTL GP's and none of mine have traction tires. I'm not sure of AZL GP's they may have them. Or someone has loaded the wheels Bullfrog snot. Bob

Here is a picture from the underside of the loco (NH version) ; I think there is an issue with three weels (please look at the arrows ... ), or is it simply a light reflexion ? The seller answered "Truck rotate when laying on side" (?). He sells for almost $200 including shipment (add customs fees to France, about $43 ! ) for an used loco that needs to be cleaned and lubricated again. I wonder if it's not "a bit" too expensive ! If I convert to Euros, it's 10% more than a (new) GP by AZL sold in Germany (but there is no NH model) ... The only interesting things (for me) are that, despite of the fact it's "used", it seems not damaged (another model for one halfth of this price had handrails "out of shape" and has been already sold) and that it is a NH locomotive ... But I think I will give it up, too expensive for the model. Unfortunately there are no new F3, F7 or GP's models in New-Haven.

To me the wheels look very dirty. I always assume that any used loco I buy will require a full disassembly and cleaning.
MTL publishes a database on their website with retail prices. The NH GP9 is listed at $175.95.
As far as a NH loco you might just ask here if there will be a release my AZL in 2018. As I recall the HN F units were very common.

Don't buy it. The seller is ripping you off. No traction tires involved on MTL locos. NH GP-9 shells are readily available... NEW!

If it is said having traction tires, it is not MTL. BTW, MTL hood units are excellent runners, although indeed 1 scale foot too broad (hood + chassis, easy to spot when coupled to MTL freight cars that are at scale). And indeed, all wheels are powered and catch juice. On a 1.6% slope, a single MTL GP9 or 35 (same mechanism) should be able to pull at least 12 to 15 cars, depending on matching curve radius. Dom

Bob AZL Geeps do have (and I want to add "unfortunately", although these are overall excellent locomotives) traction tires. One on each truck. Dom
