I think a forum section dedicated to AZL / RLW Brass is a good idea. While it may not see a ton of post it would be useful to have one dedicated place to find Tuneup / Repair tips as well as pictures of these Rare models. Here we need your help: Sven, I do have one issue - the GS-3 does not run. I think it's because the back two wheels on the loco are not touching enough. When I push down on the backside of the loco it runs for a second or so but then it stops. Tested same with the GS-4 which shows no issues. Thoughts? Thanks and have a good evening! -Tiest

That is cool, never seen that before. -Tiest Here you go, Tiest: View AttachmentIf I read the picture right, one could build this train from 1946 (approximately) using AZL items like follows: Power: Cab Forward -- AZL 1741 Baggage: SP 6448 -- AZL 71604 RPO: UP Overland 5804 -- AZL 73944 ?? TTG RPO/Baggage SP 5036 ?? 4-4-2 Sleeper Overland 4-4-2 Sleeper Overland TTG Diner SP 10202 TTG Chair SP 2494 6-6-4 Sleeper Overland 6-6-4 Sleeper Overland 6-6-4 Sleeper Overland Observation: Pullman -- AZL 71804 You may want to add TTG Pullman Overland Sleepers until you end up with 16 cars like on the picture!! If you now want to have a Cab Forward, please let me know! Here are some pictures of the Cab Forward:

More interesting it becomes when we look into the SP Challenger train package: Now we have a black GS3 lettered for SP with green passenger cars lettered for SP. This would be typical for a local train in the mid 50ties! Very prototypical, I believe. What is your experience/opinion? Best, Sven

Simon and I worked ourselves through the SP lettering to better understand the early AZL times of train consists. What do I mean? From about 1916 until 1946 the SP lettering was "Southern Pacific Lines", which AZL`s Daylight GS3 are carrying as well as the 1938 12 passenger car Daylight consist. If we look into the "Californian" train package, then we see green lightweight cars lettered SP and a Daylight GS3 lettered SP lines: Shouldn't the green cars either be lettered SP Lines or the GS3 SP?

For those who shy away from the costs of the Kodachrome F45, there may be an alternative brass solution for half the price. How about? Send me a message if you want it. Best, Sven
