I have this lay out in N scale and always thought about how much you could do with it in Z Scale. there are some thing to consider. the grades on the stock layout are pretty steep so you would want to buy 1-2 deg incline ramps. I would also recommend buying some smaller rock molds. the forms that come with it are huge in z.

I was looking at this feature as a final hill before the meadowland with the track running below it. Since this casting is N scale, will it tower above the train like a mountain rather than a hill?

The Woodland Scenic Rocky Ridge arrived cracked thanks to poor packaging & the USPS so I returned it. I examined it thoroughly first & decided to try an experiment.
I took a hunk of air dry clay & modeled three rolling hills. I let the sculpt dry for at least 2 weeks. Then I coated it with white glue, cut a square of Woodland Scenic Ready Grass & used my blow dryer to form it onto the clay. As the material heated, it draped over the hills & valleys quite naturally, sticking to the glue, and then hardening. I really like the effects. & the clay was much less messy than other mediums. Drying time is longer but the effects are neat imho.

Between the two, I eventually get a job done that I'm happy with.
