Is this necessary? is this the part where we measure our "fingers" to see who's is longer? None of our cars are just side slide changes btw...all stand alone tooling. But these numbers don't speak the whole truth. Sure you have 55 products...we have 36 by your count, then you have to add in 30 different pieces of track, 5 coupler combos and trucks and 58 structure kits so the actual count is 55-124. we win Ahem! LOL Necessary? Heck no! Just intended as a way to have a bit of fun. We are all rightfully proud of what we have worked on and accomplished. And I learned something: each of the MTL box cars are separate tooling. Cool by me! My point was simply that Z scale has grown to the point where enthusiasts of the scale are not beholden to any one manufacturer. That's a good and healthy thing. Furthermore, I'm glad that MTL makes great products at a reasonable price. It helps build the scale, and that helps everyone. I'm also glad to see Joe posting here. He is a good guy, valuable resource, and wonderful advocate for Z scale. We may have the AZL logo at the top of the page, but we always intended this forum to be a place where everyone who is associated with Z scale would feel welcome. Got news about MTL, Marklin, or any Z manufacture? Feel free to post it here. We will advocate for our brand, but we also welcome anyone else who wants to advocate for their own Z products too! Last, joe beat me fair and square on the product count. And yes, I do have small fingers. Cheers! -Rob(A) AZL

And in a somewhat related story, The Sun reported a rumor that Prince Charles had died. Just goes to show that people far more knowledgeable than Willy get caught up in false rumors of greater importance than toy trains.
But if anything is going to kill Z scale, it's going to be Joe's avatar!

Aw, Joe changed his avatar...thank goodness!

Actually, I'd rather have MTL make the smooth-side New York Central cars ...and just forget the big belly. Hey Joe: If you do know one another, why don't you and Rob work together on some things?

Mark, Just how does Willy know Prince Charles? and if they really are friends... Why won't Rob and Joe work together on a few projects that would help z scale? Hey, It's not like you're working with Jay Gould, or the devil or Marklin... Wait, AZL did work with Marklin. ...Just tell me why AZL can't do something nice with MTL?

I heard a rumor (not roomer) that MTL will soon be releasing several new Z scale locomotives. They are the ES44 (MSRP $165), the U25C (MSRP not set yet), and the SW1500 ($110). A rumor, of course. I also heard a rumor that MTL might also acquire AZL and start producing AZL cars under the MTL banner, with upgraded Z scale true-scale couplers and AZL's metal wheels. Of course, this is just a rumor. Lastly, I heard that MTL is about to launch a custom "Build your own" locomotive, whereby you select they type of locomotive from a database of over 60 steam and diesel locos, and select your road name and number, and they will 3d print the loco, apply an underframe and motor, and apply the markings and paint and sell it to you for under $200. Actually, it may be under $100. Again, a rumor.

I also heard that MTL is hiring 1000 people to fill the production line because demand is so high for Z scale. Frank Deshutes

1. I don't give out names of friends and acquaintances to people I don't know. 2. I'm trying to get as much info as possible but since I don't live there and can only reach my friend by email, this takes time. 3. Who his sources are is no one's concern but his and I will not invade his privacy or theirs by asking. 4. I would think that MTL would not pull the plug until they complete any pre-orders, if in fact they do that. 5. If in fact this is a rumor started by some disgruntled employees at MTL, then it's business as usual. I'm only passing on what I've heard. 6. Why don't you investigate it yourself Dave? Contact MTL and try to get answers from them. I wonder if they are planning to discontinue Z will they be up front about it or will they stonewall anyone who asks. I don't know, Do you? 7. If I do find out anything, I will certainly pass the info along to anyone who cares. 'boxcarwilly' is fake news..... he's probably a reporter for CNN. I mean just look at this explanation for his "sources".. 'Passing on what you've heard' is a weak excuse for attention getting sensationalism based on erroneous information. He even suggest that he can spread any kind of "rumor" and fellow readers should go do the research. Why not make the phone call yourself 'Willy' before posting questionable stories. #stopspreadingliesforattention. #boxcarwillyisfakenews

Hans or Rob...personally, I think it is time to lock and/or delete this thread. I don't anything productive is going to be gained by leaving it open any longer.
