...or maybe, Willy, you should have had some more concrete evidence of this before bringing a RUMOR of this magnitude to this forum.
You posted it, someone called you out on it, you get mad at them. What exactly did you think would happen with this thread?
From reading other posts of yours, it seems you are very unhappy with the state of Z-scale as a whole; perhaps N or HO scale would suit you better.

+1 Dave!
Willy, all you do is complain, and how you are leaving the hobby, and where is your passenger cars in the color you want, and the sky is falling, supertrain is awful, no one gives you any respect, they make fun of your trains, and on and on.
Do you feel better venting your frustrations here this way? If so I suspect you are the only one that feels better. If not, why do it?
I don't live in fantasy land, but your constant complaining is really a downer. Do you think it is making anything better? Constructive criticism is great, how to make something better helps others. A valid gripe given factually is understandable, but everything seems bad to you.
I'm sorry you feel badly, but frankly, I'm REALLY tired of hearing it.
Greg
p.s. all we need to do is p**s off MTL and convince them we don't want their products, that's really a good idea.

I heard a nasty rumor from a friend of mine in Oregon that MTL is winding down it's production of Z scale engines and cars. As I understand it, they have decided to shelve Z scale and concentrate entirely on N scale production. While I find this most unfortunate, it's not at all surprising if true. The new ownership of MTL has not been interested in doing much of anything to boost MTL's market share in Z scale and with the current staff loath to bring forth any new products, they are shooting themselves in the foot. It seems that the manufacturers of Z scale are growing less and less all the time and not just in cars and engines, but in accessories and detail parts as well. How many more are going to throw in the towel? Not true and it's irresponsible to be spreading rumors that are unfounded. It's also irresponsible to speak for our staff and ownership based on rumor without actually asking us. Joe

I think MTL offers products that are in my price range. AZL cars are expansive, to much for a person that gets his money from surveys. If this is a roomer than it don't do anybody any good.

Ahem! Locomotive Projects Released: AZL: 14 MTL: 4 Freight Cars styles: AZL: 24 MTL: 27 (Although really 19 when you consider that many are side changes to tooling) Passenger Car styles: AZL: 17 MTL: 5 'nuff said. Is this necessary? is this the part where we measure our "fingers" to see who's is longer? None of our cars are just side slide changes btw...all stand alone tooling. But these numbers don't speak the whole truth. Sure you have 55 products...we have 36 by your count, then you have to add in 30 different pieces of track, 5 coupler combos and trucks and 58 structure kits so the actual count is 55-124. we win Ahem! LOL

Joe, Good to see that you're around.
Let's see, isn't this about the fourth time that MTL was "getting out of z?" - when Märklin filed for bankruptcy (and ALL of z was dead), when the loco deal with Sanda Kanda (or whoever) was terminated, and when the KC convention fell through. So I give the rumor the appropriate thought. and preordered the daylight passenger set.
Unfortunately, sometimes it seems like MTL is deemphasizing Z because we hear so little of what you're doing. Of course one way no make a little noise would be to shrink a couple of the sweet N scale designs to Z.

Thanks for the Response Joe I suspected the roomer was not true which is why I called him out on it. I've always believed in the old saying "Give a man enough rope and he will hang himself" which appears to be just what he did.
Boxcarwilly i do not wish to speak ill of you or anyone for that matter, but your own words (post) have led to the comments people are posting about you. Constructive criticism is one thing. But whether you realize it or not your post are coming off as negative and lead us to believe you are not happy with anything to do with Z scale.
So I'm asking you Please stop with all the negativity.
David
Moderators This kind of thread dose not do anyone any good. Neither MTL or the Z scale community needs this kind of negative publicity. So I ask that you give it a few days for those involved to speake their piece then lock it, or Better yet Delete the whole thread.

Sorry, if you are the Joe I know, then your statements are good enough for me. Not everyone spreads silly rumors (or even roomers) on this forum.
Yes, delete this thread... it's going to be misinterpreted somehow.
