My first thought would be MTL. They're usually helpful if you ask nicely.

There's a few on Ebay right now, UP included, that are not runners. But for 60.00 dollars, you have all your parts.

MTL Z 12001-2 F7 UP Powered A-Unit Locomotive # 1468 NOT RUNNING Item #332148937864 I've bought from him before, good seller. I would point out that the 12000 series F7As were dummy units (no power). Mark

Hmmm, maybe THAT's why it's "not running", lol!

It also brings into question the knowledge of the seller.

I called MTL directly and ordered the parts for some of my F7's. They were very inexpensive and the customer service was nice and fast.

I only ordered the frame spacers and and the electrical pickup whiskers. You just have to see what they have. I also tried to get parts for my SD40-2's and only got the plastic frome spacers that were stripped. The SD40's are toast.

If you're looking for a shell, I'd suggest looking for a loco built 2012 or later. The version 2 F7 shells have better detail and are dimensionally more correct and come with window glazing. Of course you could try MTL for a shell.

From his response Mark, I inferred that either MTL has no shells for sale (which is my understanding of the situation), or they were too expensive. This is why I asked him the direct question. Greg We may have some decorated, I know we have undecs stashed someplace. Joe

Joe, I've noticed a number of dimensional differences between the original F7 shells and the new ones. Are they fully interchangeable?

Mark: I've got one of Nelson Gray's originals to compare. Was a change made? By my count MTL made about a dozen changes in the shell and it's details. In particular for this discussion, the cab/hood dimensions and overall height have changed slightly. I haven't tried swapping shells between the original and new locomotives yet. But if the discussion is for getting new shells for old chassis, it would be good to know if there are chassis differences that need to be considered between the generations. BTW I would be interested in a shell upgrade for some of my 14000 series units. Mark
