The shorter cars can be use model other cars not in the AZL stable. For example I'm building one of these:  The RPO roof and frame are close enough to use. Add the bodies from half a coach and half a baggage car and new trucks and you have a good approximation. |

Good Idea. Think I'm set with SP. How about AZL's Union Pacific HW cars? Which of these Armour Yellow cars were in service (or protection) in the 1954-55 time period that I currently model? RPO cars were not in use after 1957  |

RPO cars were not in use after 1957 I can't find a great deal of concrete info for 1955. There was an 8-1-2 sleeper assigned to Chicago-Yellowstone on the Overland. This fits the topic as the car seems to be sold out. The SLC-LA Gold Coast was probably still heavyweight, no specific details, probably 12-1 & 10-1-2 cars. But this service ended in 1955. Finally some nonspecific references of heavyweight cars in service to the Pacific Northeast: Pocatello (Idahoan?), Spokane, Seattle. |
