Good evening...I am thinking of getting a BN Geep and would like some opinions on the GP30 vs the GP38. I would expect the detailing to be much better on the GP30 but am more concerned about running qualities. All input is appreciated. Thanks for looking and Happy Thanksgiving.

I've found that my GP30 performs very similar to the GP38 and have been very happy with them. That said, my units seem to be golden: I've had none of the issues reported for either model. But here draw your own conclusions. GP38 performance under load (each load is 25 grams = 1 heavyweight car) MPH vertical scale, throttle DC voltage horizontal. Mark

I can't speak for the GP30 but my Soo and Milwaukee GP38s run many miles at exhibitions and have had only one chassis that went belly up, that was replaced by a dealer, so all good www.dawdawes.com

I believe they run the same. However, if you have a lot of turnouts, I notice with the longer wheelbase the gp 38 appears to make it to the frogs better. Just my observation. Sometimes when the rails are turned I get a stray piece of ballast that keeps the points from contacting rail completely and the longer wheels can bride that gap.

Same motor, same trucks, basically the same weight, better details on GP30 and as Joe mentioned the GP30 is slightly shorter. I found no differences in performance.
