]How about releasing a SP Daylkight E7 A-B-B injection molded set to pull these heavyweights? R U fooling Me? Possibly, but it would still be nice to have an E7AB set. Besides, you were the one who brought up that you had made one at one time. It would also be ideal to re-release all the earlier brass locomotives in injection molding sometime in the future. Hey, I can dream, can't I?

The E7 A-B-B set is in quite a high demand.
Correct me if I'm wrong
I think Dave Stubbs paid $3K for his brass set in the last known resale.
That is why I'm buying everything I want as AZL releases it ...so I won't have to buy it later when I need it.

I wish try $5500 :\ when you figure a single AZL brass engine sells for around $2000 it doesn't seem that bad since the set comes with 3 engines. Added new E8 chassis and sound and hands down my favorite set.

AZL has produced so many new locomotives, freight, and passenger models recently that I have a hard time keeping up with what I want and what I can afford to buy!! I guess it's time to get the second mortgage on the house...

Not sure if this is good or bad news, but there is a lot more in the pipeline. Hans (AZL)

Hi Did the SP E9 6051 actually pulled these daylight passenger cars? Charlie Absolutely, positively, maybe. It's hard to relate a particular set of road numbers together. It seems to me that 6051 serviced the Coast Route (from the images) but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be elsewhere. The baggage car most likely ran with the E9. If you consider the observation car as a business car, again most likely. The Diner was mostly on the San Joaquin which generally didn't run E units, so I would rate it as a possibility. The remaining cars are an interesting speculation. No documentation for daylight HW sleepers in revenue service that I'm aware of. There were a number in MoW service and they may have had a rescue train with sleepers. There is also a story that there were a couple of matching sleepers to go with the business car, for when the president needed to bring an entourage. And finally an image of a T&NO daylight streamliner with several HW rooflines. Take from it what you want. Mark

Ok thanks, at least E9's were used sometimes. I'm deeply hesitating in purchasing this passenger cars set, as I own E9 6051 (and an AC12)..
Maybe separate daylights passenger cars will be produced once? ;p

Mark Mark, I actually have records that indicated that Pullman Plan 3979a 8-1-2 "De Peyster" was owned by the SP and painted Orange and Red on 4/3/52, and the Pullman 12-1 "Alamo" was owned by the T&NO. But, our policy has been to confirm with actual photographs, because records from maintenance shops and the railroads have been known to be inaccurate. For this reason, I did not list the cars as "accurate" - but I have reason to believe that they were. Just no proof. Best, -Rob(A)

Rob, Yeah these are sort of "X Files" cars...I want to believe... There is no doubt that these cars were sold to SP/T&NO in the divestiture. SP records suggest that they would have been painted two-tone grey and numbered for use on the SP...except the 4/3/52 Pullman paint shop record would suggest that "De Peyster" may have been a leaseback to Pullman (BTW: my Pullman database says it was repainted yellow and red in 1952...COSF car?). Of course then there are the "definitive" lists of SP passenger paint: espee.railfan.net/passenger-paint.html and then we "know." But then we run across images like: that leaves us wondering. There also exists an image, from the Arkansas RR museum I believe, showing a T&NO daylight train from above with a HW 12-1 roofline visible. I for one am willing to accept these sleepers as models of possible (probable) prototypes. Charlie, The important thing to know is that the Daylight paint scheme was meant for the LW streamliners. Were I to add this set to my roster, I'd run it with a couple of my modified Märklin Daylights: probably adding a baggage, dome and sleeper. Mark
